"I am fine to do whatever is needed. This is not my first house,
just my first in Constantinople." But then the bell rang and the
woman seemed almost relieved that the day was ending soon. She
listened to her request and she nodded sharply, "Absolutely,
Housemother. I will take care of the girls coming in, and you
should come and have a quick drink of tea as well." She did not
miss the flushed cheeks and sweat of exertion. " I will have to
make you a tincture of these herbs. You never seem to stop long
enough for tea", she half- teased as she headed back into the
kitchen area to await the girls.

A womens job is never done. . but i will accept your offer i
will talk with the owner and see if it will be ok if you Assist
us more from now on...
*She sat down taking what she offered*
Everyone will begin comeing in shortly around 30 minutes prior
to the end of our shift the oncoming will begin to phase into
the area to make a smooth trasistion

She raised an eyebrow. "I assumed you were the owner. I
certainly hope this person knows how fortunate they are to have
someone as dedicated as yourself running their establishment!"
She handed over the tea. "And I would appreciate that greatly,
it would make me feel much better to be able to help out
whenever and where ever I can." She busied her hands preparing
another pot, "Will I be tending to the incoming shift as
well?..or do they have their own person who fills this
position?"
She didn't sound like either instance would bother her. It was a
matter of etiquette, she did not want to step on the toes of
another.

You are working the day shift til we are told otherwise. . .you
did a great job. . .we get the night off so rest up and enjoy
the night work comes early again

"As you say housemother," she said with a smile. " And thank
you, I will retire to my quarters for the evening, but should
the next shift need anything I am more than willing to help out.
Enjoy the tea."
She went back to her room to pray and work on preparing a
tincture for the housemother. She stayed dressed and ready to
help if needed until late, then retired to bed.

to sleep when a feint knock was heard on the door*

She put down the last jar she was working on, "No, please,...
come in." She dusted off her hands and wiped them on a towel as
she waited fro the soft voice to reveal it's owner.

*was a girl maybe 12 she was in a long shirt and lifted her
ankle some*
can you help?
*it looked pretty bad like it was very bruised if not fractured.
The girl though was seemingly ok not crying but was in pain*

She winced even as she moved toward the girl. "Oh sweet, come
sit over here." She helped the girl to her chair and looked over
the bruised and swollen ankle. "How did this happen?" She moved
her hands across the area, bending the joint gently, feeling for
and indication of grinding or popping. She didn't feel anything
amiss. If there were fracture it was small and would heal
without much trouble. She smiled at the girl. "Sit here, I will
give you something for the pain and swelling."
She propped the leg up on a low table and moved to the chest to
gather the supplies she would need, and put on a kettle to heat
some water. She returned to the girl with a spoon and a small
bottle. " I'm going to give you a bit of this. It tastes awful,
but if you hold it under your tongue you cannot taste it so
much. Hold it there as long as you can." She poured into the
spoon using that to place it under the girl's tongue. "Now
remember, don't swallow yet." She smiled and took the girl's
hand, "We will talk more once the tea is ready, okay?"
Again she moved and began gathering things, this time lengths of
cloth, some of which she dampened with some liquid. She piled
them on the table beside the girl's leg as the kettle began to
whistle. Smiling at the girl again, she went and poured the tea,
bringing two cups back for them. "You can swallow it now."
Handing the girl one, she sat the other to the side as she
lifted the foot onto her knee. "My name is Cyra, what is your
name?", she began to gently wrap the moist cloth around the
ankle as she waited for the girl's answer.

*she sat in the chair lifting her leg and when given a spoon
full of something she did as she was told... it was not tasty
but she only got a little that spilled out from under her tongue
then finally swallowed when allowed to*
yuck
*she shook her head a bit and then answered*
I Sarah... i slipped on some food and did this...
*wincing just a bit as she sipped the tea very slowly as to keep
from burning her lip and tongue*
