She laid back on the pillow and stared at the ceiling a moment
before looking at him
"I would keep it if you preferred it to the other. It makes no
difference to me personally. I cannot be hurt by you rejecting
something I had only a vague memory of... well, a vague memory
and a mosaic in the Hagia Sophia. If this is prettier and more
to your liking I would be better served by it."

if you go back nothing has changed if you keep it this way then
you can litrally start anew with no one knowing you could become
a completely new person

longer looking for something to save me. Life rafts might keep
you afloat, but they rarely get you anywhere ... and I have
places I want go. This night has shown me that if nothing else."
She smiled at him
"If you truly do not care, I will ask my Sire to return the face
I have worn for all these years. Becoming a new person would
only feel like lying ... to myself mostly. I have the option for
another face at any time..another body as well. I have no
interest in being a new face with the same mentality..I would
rather have new insights and the same face. "

give you that small piece of yourself back. . . does not bother
me what your outward appearance is your heart and soul are what
matters

She watched him, wordlessly, as he spoke,undressed,and made his
way to bar the door. At his question she looked back to the
ceiling and gave him three answers. She shrugged, shook her head
no, but whispered
"Yes"
Sleep would come no matter what she wanted, no matter if she was
done with this night or just beginning to sort it all out. And
then there was Thomas...between her trying to get past the way
she always second guessed what she thought people expected of
her...and his obstacle course of communication skills ... he
was something she could spend eternity trying to make sense of
... and would still likely fail.
But dawn was coming and all of these thoughts would fall away
soon. Tonight when awoke she would make her way home to find
Sire-appropriate clothing, then make her way to him and see if
he would restore her - and to tell him of what had happened this
night ... and her fears for Michael...and for the city.
