Trials of the Guard (Walls of Constantine, day)

Mikhail Vladimirovich was a man of his word and in spite of a
very long and enjoyable night, he was at the wall before dawn.
He'd sacrificed one of his hours of rest to insure that he
didn't smell of last nights festivities, to put himself in a fit
state fog appearance and to wolf down a quick meal. Under the
bright tabard he'd been given, his hauberk of maille gleams,
having been freshly scrubbed with sand and treated with cool
prior to his departure, the finely made armor glints a bronzed
gold. He bore his helm under one arm, his head covered by the
padded cap and cape of maille that was worn beneath. The helm
was well made but lightly adorned, minaret shaped with a few sun
wheels cut into the panels near his brows.
Arriving at his designated post on foot, he wore his sword upon
his hip and his axe slung across his back as was his custom when
not mounted but girded for a fight. As a pale gleam brightens
the eastern sky, Mikhail approaches the post and hails any
standing watch there...an eager glint in his eyes in spite of
his lack of sleep and unknown hardships that await.

*he was prompt which helped as Mikhail took his post at the Port
entryway as he watched and surveyed the area. Ships coming in
and out of the harbor. men women children scurrying about to and
fro. Nothing seemed to jump out at him as out of the ordinary
for standing a post*

A better perch over the city for his first duty Mikhail could
not have asked for. Ships were dear to him in an almost childish
way, for his home city was linked to the world by the rivers
that had carried his conquering ancestors into the heart of that
wild land. As such the vessels would provide entertainment if he
were to get bored in the long hours of his watch. Still, he
watches the people even more than the boats, though he was half
learning the usual comings and goings of the waterways by
keeping an eye to the movement of many hulls upon the water.
While not hawk eyed Mikhail was keen to page close attention to
all going on around him, that he wouldn't be caught unawares at
his first task.

to Mikhail*

"Mikhail, I only arrived a few days ago..." amber gaze flicks
over the other man, sizing him up even though Mikhail's smile
was kindly enough. "From where do you come from then Justin?"
Though he keeps his body partially turned towards the other
guard, Mikhail keeps watching over the docks as they talk.

"From one city of empire to another then. I come from Kiev, the
greatest city in all Rus...and yet this..." he sweeps an arm out
across the walls "dwarfs it. Even if it took us converting to
stop us from ransacking the place..." mostly he thinks silently.

would not be the first country to attempt it. . . that is why we
are here to prevent unbeleivers from crossing into the Grand
City

if your brethren choose to invade will you defend the city or
your Brethern?

"My folk are all Christians now...granted that alone has not
kept them from attacking in the past, but ever since we sent
many men to form the Guard we have looked elsewhere to plunder."
He shrugs his shoulders as if to say that too was no garuntee.
"If some Rus princling gets it into hid head to attack this
city, I will stand by he whom I have sworn oaths too...that is
also the way of my people." Mikhail hadn't turned his full
attention to Justin until those last words and then his gaze had
gleamed with a hardness as close to grimness as those laughing
eyes ever likely came. "Does that answer your question?"

We might have an issue with the two tall men off to the side
near the corner building they occasionally make difficulties to
certain people coming in from the docks*
*The both stood shy of 6 feet tall and stocky, unkempt hair and
scruffy looking altogether. They had not moved against anyone
but seemed to be scanning*
