Her diligence

*while Mannix was out she went about doing what he asked if her
learn something new and listen . She explored the house top to
bottom . She also found place to hide and listen to others. .
After a couple hours she went to his room and sat on his bed
waiting for his return. As she waited she played with the knife
he got her*

Mannix came into the place still thinking about the dead woman.
Why had she been killed? Was she the target and if so, was she
more than she seemed. He kept looking at the flower she had
given him, as if it could tell him something. The ex-monk enere
the house and greeted the other two there, working his way
through the house and finally heading to his bed room. He looked
inside and smile as he saw Petra. He walked in and held out the
flower.
"This is for you."

I did what you asked. . .i looked through the house completely
did you know if a couple of knots of wood were removed the sun
could get in here. . .i fixed it so they wont but was scarey

i dont want either of us to get burned.. . am i a plaything? do
you like me or did you have othe plans. . . Cause the other men
say i am a plaything to . .how they say. . .spend some personal

He smiled as she put the flower in her hair. He listened as she
told him about the knots and thought again about the fact that
he neeed to find someplace new to lay, someplace safer.
"Thank you for protecting me. Okay, so I will have to talk to
those two, and make sure they understand you are part of our
family, not a plaything. You never have to fear being anyone's
toy. What they mean by personal intimate time with is that they
think I will have sex with you. Do you understand what sex is?"

A boy jumps on top of girl and she screams out and then he
leaves. . . Why that is nice I don't know

Well that was a strange reaction.
"There is more to sex than that. Much more. But we will leave it
till you are older. Yes, my time out was good. I spoke with my
father. He expressed some concern and told me much. Then I went
out and a woman spoke with was shot with an arrow. It was very
disconcerting. You said something that I would like to ask you
about. You asked if I liked you or did I have other plans. What
did you mean by that?"

as they said plaything . . . i dont think i wouldbe good at that
sex thing.. . i thin i would get hurt if you jumped on me like

He sighed. Then he smiled at Petra.
"Petra, you are a child. I do not have sex with children. I do
not force people to have sex with me, ever. I also do not hurt
those I have sex with. I will probably have sex with other
people, maybe even in this house. But you never have to worry
about it."
He thought about it.
"I will talk to the other men for a little bit and then I think
I will look into sleeping in my library. I might even try and
set up a bedroom in the basement. I haven't spent much time with
you today. What would you like to do?"

He raised an eyebrow but he was still smiling.
"Of course I can. I might even teach you a few words in another
language. Do you speak anything other than Latin Petra?"
