Middlemen (Pisan District, Day)

Mikhail Vladimirovich had arisen shortly after the orb of the
sun, dressed in fine red linen cloth, and adorned his arms with
several extra arm rings. With a solid meal in his belly and a
goal burning in his mind, the young man had struck out across
the strange and wonderful city. Within his garments he was
carrying more silver than what is displayed upon his limbs and
around his neck, so he'd taken care to hone his sword and oil
the sheath that the blade wouldn't stick before setting out.
The city truly was a glorious place, full of wonders of
engineering and buzzing with languages and the smell of strange
foods...amongst less savory scents. It was the recently burned
Latin Quarter that Mikhail had made for and the Pisan District
within it...relying on his very rough mental map of the city,
what he'd learned the night before, and speaking with random
merchants...even if that on occasion required parting with a
minor coin or two. Today Mikhail was on the hunt and relished
it, even if he was used to hunting amongst fir groves rather
than marble ones.

*as he walked from his Inn through the city which was Bustling
with people and animals, there was defiantly a sight of cat
lounging here an there. The Latin quarter did seem to have
several burned out buildings. Maybe a couple dozen all in a
block area as he passed into the Pisan District he saw the
building he was looking for. A 2 story building with white and
red banners hanging from the windows. Several Men outside couple
horses, they all seemed armed*

Mikhail makes note of just where the burned out buildings are as
he passes through, out of idle curiosity about the happenings in
the city. Upon his gaze falling on the building he smiles, Barda
had been right...he felt he'd come to the right place as soon as
he saw it. Horses, armed men, the banners...Mikhail makes for
the front enteance. As he walks up he looks appraisingly at the
horses, though the general disposition of the men are made note
of as well. "Good morning" he offers the greeting in Greek
unless some of the men look to be from his part of the world, in
which case he uses his native tongue.

Mikhail stops a short distance from the man who had addressed
him, returning the man's regard and casually sizing him up. Big
and no doubt very adept with his weapons to be here, but then
Mikhail had grown up amongst warriors so that didn't bother him.
"I come to make my case before the commander, for admittance to
the famed company of the Guard." Spoken with the confidence of a
Boyer born and bred.
Mikhail's smile is touched with a toothiness more appropriate to
a raider than a man seeking audience...but amongst such men that
was apt to be normal. "As I understand it here is where I begin
making my case."

*he smirked and gave a small chuckle as did some others*
The commander is out for now maybe try again tomorrow. . . or
the next. . . one cant tell how long it will take
*he handed the reins to a stable boy*
DO you own a horse or a set of decent armor or do you think that
it is all just provided for?

Unbothered but the looks or chuckling Mikhail just smiles at the
man addressing him. "Of course he is, I hardly expect to find a
man of such importance on my first visit." His voice was all
warmth and amusement and his eyes stay mirthful as he sizes up
the man, seeking any trace of weakness in him.
"A warhorse and fine armor are mine, in addition to other
weapons...and of course I have much to donate for the betterment
of the Guard. Naturally these things are being kept safe by my
household for the time being." After a pause he adds "I suspect
what is most provided is the opportunity to bloody your oath
sworn lord's enemies."

weaknesses are harder to detect*
Better than most it seems. . . come back in a few hours if the
Commander is here I will inform him of your arrival... Explore
the city and begin to familiarize yourself might be helpful if
you have some knowledge
*he seemed to actually be giving helpful ideas*

The comment made him wonder what sort of riff raff had been
showing up lately. Tipping his head respectfully "I'll be here
some hours from now and I thank you for the advice. I look
forward to repaying it." His inclination was to pay for it up
front but he decides that would be impolitic unless requested.
"I expected to find the Guard largely housed closer to the
palace." It seems an off handed, castaway remark, made with a
glance at the building nearby.
