Needful Things

After giving Gavri'el the orders to send Andrea to remain there
to entertain Stephano until she came for him, she made her way
to the low chair near the rarely used fireplace. She draped her
body across the chair sideways. One leg hanging over the arm and
one on the floor, one of her arms resting on the back while the
other lay across her body. Thinking to herself how much more
sensible and comfortable the bindings were compared to the
abundance of material in gowns, she considered wearing only this
at home from now on ... but that was a thought for later... For
now she awaited Andrea's arrival and she needed to focus.

"Come in and sit down Andrea, I want to talk with you a while.
There are things that rankle me and I believe you are the key to
putting them to rest."
She did not move from her position but waited patiently until
Andrea had taken a seat before continuing
"First I would like to discuss Gavri'el....or the shell that was
Gavri'el. Being told that you helped him is no longer a
sufficient answer...what exactly did you do to help
him...because frankly, the results have left me with some
emotionless puppet that only physically resembles him. I
honestly don't know how much longer I can tolerate him in this
condition. I am hoping your explanation will make this
experience more ...bearable."
She remained as she was, her voice had been as calm as if she
were inquiring about the weather. Emotions would only do her a
disservice at this point.

Of course Amaris... i simply took the emotion of Pain associated
with you setting I'm aside was hard for him to be dismissed
after years of being your one and only companion. His Ego was
crumbling under the weight.

that I can love him and someone else. His acceptance of it is
purely a result of removing his emotions?"
She made a noise deep in her chest..something half laugh-half
snort..a sort of a choking back of amusement.
"I find it ironic that once he looked like Gesu and acted like
himself, now he looks like himself and acts like Gesu. He's so
dulled to my affection that it has become painful to speak with
him, let alone bed him. I could get a better performance from
one of the bath house boys...and most of them prefer men."
Looking over at Andrea she arched a brow
"You seem to be quite ...knowledgeable about these matters. Do
you have any wisdom as to how this situation could be fixed? I
have outgrown my unhealthy relationship to my Sire, I do not see
the point in having the same situation in my house. I love him,
but if he is incapable of returning my affection ... due to his
own pride or due to you removing his emotions...then I will not
continue to attempt to gain it. I am through with participating
in this folly - be it with my Sire or my Ghouls."

was just attempting to help with his situation the block
essentially is slowly coming down as each time passes with you.
if you desire i can completely unlock it and he will be
completely his own again. If i over stepped my bounds i
apologise and will refrain from acting like that again.
*her tone and look showed she truly ment she was apologiseing*
IS there anything i can do to help then?

"No, you offered help and he accepted, I assume, knowing fully
what he was being offered. If it will fade away as I spend time
with him I will try to do just that. IF for whatever reason he
remains like he is despite the block being down - I assume you
will know when it is- then you will have to let me know so I can
make an informed decision as to my next step. I will make a
point to spend as much time with him as possible. Once the move
is over it should be much easier as I will not have to be
sleeping elsewhere every night. "
She smiled at Andrea, her face no longer looking so anxious.
"Thank you for helping him. As I said, I do love him and that
you could make this easier on him is appreciated. However,
please inform me of these things as soon as possible. Not
because I feel it requires my permission- but because I want
to...deserve to... know what is happening in my own household."
Feeling better, she shifted her body until she finally came to
rest sitting in lotus position. She stretched and seemed to be
readying herself for something. Relaxing she again smiled at
Andrea
"Now on to another matter that has troubled me far longer.
Please don't take offense, but why do you remain here? You have
no need of me..not my blood or my affection or even shelter. You
are more powerful than I am, far older and more experienced, you
run my household as you would your own, you have sway over my
ghouls and I suspect my husband to some degree...at the very
least you know far more of him and the boys than I do....so why?
My kindness the night we met is not enough...."
She closed her eyes and centered quickly before continuing
because what she would say next could cause things to go any
number of ways. She seemed to take a deep breath before opening
her eyes and speaking again
"....You see, Andrea, the more I think about all of this the
more I realized that I am in a very vulnerable position...and we
both know how I feel about being vulnerable. I find myself in a
position where, were you to find me inconvenient, you could
stake me and take over my life completely. You would have a
supply of my blood to keep the ghouls, Sarantha -my little
replica - to play my part , and know all the workings of the
house and children, and Thomas...well he is the only thing I am
unsure of your sway over... but I suppose you are clever enough
to find something ...So tell me Andrea...why would someone with
your power and experience bother when you do not need me?"

what I said was true about you having a good heart. . . but
since you are in need of more then so be it. . . I was told to
watch over the woman that would be entering Thomas Heart and to
help and guide her as best I could til the end of time
*she had her head lowered as she spoke to Amaris*
I did not understand it when I was told this 2 years ago, but I
did when I met you that night and unless you have no reason for
me to be here and release me from my Vow then I will Serve you
the best I can or in anyway you deem you wish me to serve you

Her eyebrow arched as Andrea spoke, but she waited for her to
finish before saying anything
"Let me be perfectly clear about what I need Andrea...what I
need is the truth. Something I am becoming increasingly aware
that I am not getting from someone in this mess. So let's go
over what you just said. I will give you that you were told to
do this watching over bit, I have no other choice but to do so.
However, when you met me...how exactly did you know that I was
the one Thomas would fall in love with? I had not even spoken to
him since returning... he was never even in my mind as a
potential mate. Yet you knew I was the one before I did? Did the
great Esmeralda also possess the ability to see into the future
to know I was the one? And if so..why did you not know until
that night? Inconsistencies, Andrea, inconsistencies bother
me....
She leaned back against the arm of the chair once more, her legs
still locked in position
First raise your head. You are not a beat dog and we both know
you are far more powerful than I ... you can stop acting as if
you serve me. Let's do this....You claim to care for Ailyn, but
how would you feel if you discovered that she is only playing a
role because she was ordered to do so? And if so, would that not
make you question the friendship of Gavri'el and Sarantha?
Because if one is a lie what else connected to that lie is also
a part of it? There is never just a lie, Andrea....lies are webs
of deceit that reach farther than we can imagine. These lies
have me questioning the loyalty and love of everyone I know ...
even those who would seem untouched by it.
As for your vow...just how am I to be assured of your loyalty to
me when you are only here on the orders of another. You are
being loyal to her...not me ..but to her alone. You are simply
servicing me at her whim. Am I to wait around with you as my
trusted adviser until I discover the next part of Esmeralda's
plan for me? I think not. You seem to have no concept of the
damage all of this is causing...either that, or you relish it."
For the first time her voice cracked when she spoke the next
words
"Even after centuries, it is painful when the ones you thought
loved you betray you. I release you from your vow, Andrea. If
you can be loyal to me you are welcome to stay, if you cannot
then you are free to go. As for Ailyn, if you love one another I
will release her as well. It will be hard for the children, but
I will find others to care for them. But know this. It truly
makes me sad to discover that it has all been a lie. Not just
for myself, but for everyone and everything this lie has
tainted. The next move is yours, Andrea."
She closed her eyes and said nothing more. What was done was
done and she would have to live with the fallout it would
create...unless Andrea decided to end her at this moment. Either
way, she was done with it.

you do not need to fear the shadow that once was Esmerelda she
has passed on and no she did not possess the gift of forsight
that would be a Seer in Athens 200 years ago. . . she is the
one that told me of what would occur and what is still to
transpire. Do i tell you these things no as it might influence
your choices.. . . Yes Esmerelda and Thomas were Lovers and yes
she built the house for him. You still feel your in her shadow
haunting the places she has been. She was as erratic as the
wind and as unpredictable. . . one day a lover and friend the
next she could be gone and you wait 10 years til she chooses to
come back around. Never once in her existence did she mention
you being with Thomas.. . . so if she had plans for that she
took them to the Grave with her
*she paused for a moment and collected more of her thoughts*
Do i like it here yes do i like working with you again yes. . .
Do i need you not in anyways that is tangible as in Blood, Money
or the likes. You are as flighty as Esmerelda and it draws me
to you like a moth to a flame. As for Loyal i never once have
done any action that i know of to betray it but have shown it
several times.
