Revenge and a weapon (Citadel)

She was down on the floor. Before her a bowl with some raw meat,
cheese and fruit sat, and on the other side chewing contentedly
was her newest ghoul. She was still small, but would not be so
for long, well, relative to her species anyway. She made the
noise the man at the Bazaar taught her and she came running to
hide in her sleeve, poking her nose out to sniff for danger. She
offered a tidbit of smoked meat which she took from her fingers
and disappeared into the folds of cloth to devour. She already
had a name picked out ... one that would fit well with her
adopted boys.
She rolled onto her side and used a finger to tickle her belly
through the fabric and she hissed ferociously as she attacked
the offending digit... she smiled, and wondered when Thomas
would be home, she wanted to introduce him to her...and to talk
about those interesting knives on the wall...

She tossed the boys each a half of a candied fig
"This is your new sister, not a snack. You must not eat her. I
will be very cross if you do."
She sat up and tossed them the other halves of the figs before
dropping a sliver of dried apricot down her sleeve. She was
certain Thomas would make them understand, but they were doing
exceptionally well for the moment.

She smiled at them
"Don't pout, you have plenty of fun hunting. You will not die
from leaving this one to live. Besides, your new little sister
is a dangerous predator in her own right. She will hunt down the
ones that are too little for you to waste time on... the jirds
and voles who steal your cheese while you sleep."
She looked down at the furry face happily munching on the end of
the apricot slice. She was ridiculously cute with her large
fluffy ears and little black mask. She handed over another piece
of dried meat.
"The boys will love you soon enough, once thy see how clever and
vicious you are."

She smiled up at him, all the tension in her body suddenly gone.
The archer may have not been active in a few days, but she still
worried until he arrived home every morning.
"Welcome home, my heart."
As she spoke she got to her feet and followed the boys to greet
him
"Your boys are spoiled, they are pouting because I will not let
them eat their new sister. Even though I have given them candied
figs and cheese, and even dried lamb."

She smiled and made a clicking noise with her tongue. A small
face poked out from behind her hair at her shoulder. She eyed
Thomas - now the largest predator in the room - warily before
retreating back under the cover of hair. Amaris explained,
sparing him the details
"I rescued her tonight, the man who captured her de-scented her
and made a mess of everything. She is better now.... he will not
be trading in animals any longer."
She clicked again and the little head poked out once more,
"Adrestia, this is Papa, he will never hurt you. Thomas,
Adrestia, goddess of retribution - sister to Phobos - god of
fear, and Diemos-god of despair...once you convince them she is
not a snack."
She stepped closer to Thomas and snuggled against him to show
that he was trustworthy and loved. The tiny face sniffed his
chest near and slowly inched out from under her hair. She knew
Thomas would know how to act until Adrestia was finished
examining him, so she remained silent and smiled up at him
instead. The tiny goddess sat on her chest and looked up at him
as well.
