Carb cleaner.

Good morning folks.
After not having started my engine for nearly 5 months, went to
start it, and it wouldn't.
Checked spark, it had fuel. Did some research, and it seemed the
carb might have been gummed up.
Went to Halfords and bought some Wynn's air intake and
carburettor cleaner.
500ml spray can, £7.00. Five little squrts and the second pull
on the starter she fired up.
Great stuff and pottentially saves you manually stripping and
cleaning your carb.

Hi Bill . Good to hear from you again.
Out of interest did you turn the petcock off and run the engine
to a stop last time?
Are you coming on 31st?

Slightly off topic but I am hooked into mustie1 on YouTube. He
gets all sorts of neglected small engines working. His
trouble-shooting logic may be helpful in other no-start CK
situations.

I had a similar problemonce with a carb in a generator once, an
ultrasonic waterbath did the trick. It can also be used as an
excellent degreasing facility on old parts!

I think the carb off the scooter is going to get that treatment,
with neat screenwash as the solvent, followed by a clean water
wash. It was fine when I bought it, but now it won't start.

Tip for using the ultrasonic cleaners, put part in bag with
solvent, put whole thing in waterbath. Saves using loads of
solvent.
