Correct jets for Mikuni VM22 carb

I have just fitted a cloned Mikuni VM22 Carb to my cloned GX200
engine, it was supposed to have the correct jets. But I don't
think so.
Jets fitted; pilot 22.5 I think this is too rich?
main 95 I think this may be too lean?
I know some may have gone the same route, any ideas.

I’m not sure what are standard ones fitted to my carb which is
probably identical to yours.
I read some articles on tuning these carbs and one suggestion
was fitting a 130 main jet can’t rember what pilot jet. I
ordered a 125 main jet and a 12.5 pilot jet. I haven’t fitted
them yet.

they fit 12.5/120 to their mikuni kit
From USA
“Our testing resulted in this final setup: 130 main jet, 12.5
pilot jet, needle clip in the center position and air screw two
turns out (stock position). If you copy our setup you may or may
not see great results. We recommend reading the tuning manual
and trying different setups in order to achieve the biggest
horsepower gains from this performance carburetor.”

Using above info as a base I’ve fitted 12.5/125….. engine not
yet run on new carb!

Yep, that’s the article I read as well . I couldn’t find 130
main jets so I opted for 125s

Looks like there are two types of pilot jet. Short and long. I
orderd a short one then realised the difference, I have the long
one in my carb. It’s marked 22.5 so no idea how that relates to
the 12.5 on the short one I bought

Hi Steve, yes for the 3847 carb you need the long type (approx
28mm) , if you look at the link I posted (affordablegokarts),
scroll down
you will see an image.
The Mikuni number is 486 for that type of jet, nothing to do
with the carb number
Just Google "mikuni 486"...I've not put a link because links
often die!
