I spotted this on YouTube and thought it might be of interest:

If nothing else it could form the basis for building one from
box section, using parts of the G clamp.

That is brilliant. Well spotted Chris.
Sourcing the die and anvil wheels has been the big issue for me.
Making them as shown is so simple.
I can see another little project on the horizon.
(Must get a TIG welder)

Yeah, the wheels are the expensive bit, not the frame. I made a
press with a G-cramp once and when I turned it down hard it
exploded. Of course you wouldn't turn this down hard, but don't
go imagining that cramps are very solid. They aren't. If you can
make a ck, you can weld up a wheel frame.

I've got a bit of 125mm dia. bar and plenty of 50mm.
G cramps are malleable cost iron at best (cheap ones are not so
'malleable).
I quite like welding - I feel a little project coming on.

Accu.co.uk do 1m long lengths of acme threaded rod for about 40£
and the associated nuts for about 10£.

also - I second the above statements about exploding G clamps vs

Don't get me wrong. It is a cute idea and you aren't pressing
very hard.
Mind you, not a very deep throat.
Also G-cramps are castings, so not a lot of fun welding, unless
you know your stuff, which I don't.
