Inspiration

Looking for inspiration to model my CK on, I came across the
Goodwood Bolster Cup. It features lots of pre-war specials and
mods of standard cars, all done in the spirit of the amateur
home garage enthusiast.
Lots of weird and wonderful machines to consider.
I didn't know so many pre-war racing cars in 'race' order
existed outside museums and millionaire mansions.

That car you have there, the GN JAP, was going to be my
inspiration car, but because it is itself a small car, it is
fairly hard to scale. And then, after obsessing over it for
months I decided against. But I think it will always nag at me.
Is it one you are keen on, David?
Strictly speaking it isn't an original GN car; it is a modern
concept built around a period engine, and though lots of people
saw no issue, it bothered me. I have now chosen the first ever
cyclecar, the Bedelia.

I was struggling, briefly, to decide on an inspiration car. Then
I came across the 1930's Rileys.
They are, in my humble opinion, the pinnacle of pre-war
sports/racing cars (but I know so little about cars so don't
quote me).
I spent my youth in the 60's on a bicycle and before that, I
hankered after a plank and pram wheel kart. So I missed out on
motor bikes and tinkering with old bangers. Apart from a Lotus 7
or home made equivalent, I haven't had much interest in cars and
petrol engines.
Then I came across CycleKarts on YouTube - cheap, doable, fun
and sociable rather than competitive. I am totally hooked.
My inspiration car is a 1934 Riley Ulster Imp.

Great choice! We will have to call you Mike Hawthorn, he started
in Rileys.
