I don't have an English wheel anymore and I think this body is
beyond my skill/patience level ![emoji21] I might do the
"bonnet" in ally though to get the louvres in
Im going to mock it up in foam and them refine and finesse in
plaster, cover in ally foil, polish, release agent and then
straight forward GRP in one piece and break the plug out. Ive
done this several times on tether car bodies but they are a bit
smaller ?

Sounds like a good plan, how do you intend finishing the out
side. Is it going to be smooth. I plan on doing similar for my
body over the engine behind the seat, interested in how you do
yours, looking forward to some pictures.

I have worked with GRP several times but but using a female
mould . Working inside out, getting the smoothest finish is
going to test me ! Then the thinnest skim of filler I can get
away with ( watching weight ), sand most of it off and then
paint .Its loose plan so could change at any time ;D

I am going to try that outside method on the back-end of the
Beast.
I have a tethered car. It was made in 1947 by the father of a
friend of mine, Its fantastic thing.
Its the one on the right.

Tether cars are great. I taught Engineering for many years and
developed a tether car project for my students to batch produce
from stock materials inc wheels and tyres. The bodies were grp
over foam. We ran them on the tennis courts ! Best speed we got
was 71 mph from 2.5 cc nitro engines.
Im retired now but still got a big box of bits tucked away for a
"one of these days "

Wow, those are great!
Are you chaps aware of the Onthewire.co.uk website? Im more into
tethered hydroplanes than cars but theres loads of stuff on the
site.

Yes indeed. I have had email conversations about my car. Its
well known and was 'lost' since 1950 or so. When I acquired it I
emailed them and sent photos. They couldn't believe that one of
the members (long since departed now) cars would ever just turn
up.

thats ace! I do like that site. I contributed some photos to
them about my Belvedere 4 stroke engine that i got from a
scrappie. About 30cc, water cooled horizontal, driving the prop
via a bevel gear, circa 1913. Probably the rarest thing i own.

Disappeared down a rabbit hole there synthpunk. I was a Retro
Racing Club member many years ago, I may have to renew my
subscription and dig that box out....as if I haven't got enough
going on already plus a CK to finish !
The Belvedere history is fascinating as with many of these"
pioneer" IC engines, a very fortunate find for you ! have you
got it to run yet ?
Ciao
