Ratchet / Sliding Clutch Dog

I'm looking for a side face ratchet mechanism not more than
about 30mm in diameter something like the pictures below.
Anyone got any ideas what I might be able to dismantle to
salvage this from? It's for a handbrake mechanism I want to
make.

The only time I have come across anything similar is in old
british bike kickstart mechanisms.

Is it worth looking at Belleville washers Stefan. I'm unsure it
will do what you want.
