1/4 elliptic springs

Hi, Does anyone have the spring rate for the 1/4 elliptic
springs. If I have just 200mm effective length I am trying to
estimate the axle travel. What sort of deflection would I get on
the front end with the kart stationary? What sort of wheel
travel is expected in use? Thanks in advance for any advice.

On Eric, I have 270mm effective length with the springs
"recycled" from trailer springs cut in width to 30mm, 6mm thick
with helper springs on top.
The travel is about right, but obviously dependent upon how much
weight you have on the front end. Mark uses 5mm spring steel
from memory but his springs are wider and probably don't need a
helper spring on top...

My plan with the helper spring was to ditch it if it was too
stiff or elongate it if it were too bouncy. I was lucky to get
it about right.

Thanks for this JimR.
I went back to calculate it and got back to this which feels
about right. On this basis I will carry on with the design. My
200mm long springs feel a bit short (and stiff) so I may
lengthen a bit when I get my hands on the stock springs.
