Excellent! Why do you say possibly problematic at 25mm dia.?
Earlier posts suggest a shim to get from 32 up to 35 or
whatever? That’s no problem.
75mm is about right...I could always turn a wee bit extra if
needed- the spindles get bigger towards the king pin.
And that’s the springs sorted! Dave.

At that price I'll have 4 for the Austin 7, kart no 3.

I would never contemplate shimming a bearing housing. Chris has
posted the bearing compatibility chart so have a look at that
before making decisions. It's easy in the UK to make it easy for
yourself. Only the US where there is some insistence on imperial
shafts makes it difficult.

[glow=red,2,300][/glow]The bearing tabulation is in post no 5 of
this thread, gives you info on what's available for the various
wheels.

The chart shows a bearing 17 ID and 35 OD. Do we think 17mm
spindles OK?

Hope so because that's what I've ended up with - a decision
driven by available bearings.

17 is what I have used on all mine. No issues yet, but there are
some thoughts re material and joining methods.
NOT grade 8 if you are welding unless you are prepared to do a
slow (very slow) cool. Ideally weld them and then put in a
canister of lime for a few days, otherwise embrittlement can be
an issue. Ordinary grade 2 will bend before breaking, so perhaps
a better choice.

Hi Chris;
Joined your cyclekart forum over here to see what y'all are up
to over here. Already have seen some cool stuff.
Don't guess they want to hear I bought wheels with 37mm bearings
because I can put the bearings I bought with 3/4 inch bore.
We like the robust 3/4 inch front axle because we play rough.
Americans and their inches!
Cheers Bill C

I used the wheels with 37mm bearings on my Morgan Bill, but 20mm
bore, slightly larger diameter than your 3/4" ones, and a lot
cheaper over here.

Yeah Chris 20mm is a good size just over 3/4" and should hold up
well for you. I bought new 3/4" bore bearings for my wheels at
5.00 u.s. each and I didn't think that was so bad. I found new
wheels with steel rims 17" x1.40 and 37mm bearing for 48.95 u.s.
each shipped free; can't beat that! Tires or should I say Tyres
are about 25 u.s. ea. so hey these little karts are really
affordable fun.
Glad I found your forum Chris bet you have a great bunch guys
like we do on our forum and maybe they will tolerate this good
ol boy from Alabama ! LOL
Cheers Bill
