Budget build advice

Hi folks,
I am new to this, Just thinking through some design thoughts.
Has anyone stripped a ride-on mower to get steering, diff parts?
I know the ideal thing would be to copy the underpinings of the
car you would like to style the design on. But I wondered if
anyone has any budget/easy cheats for the first iteration of the
design?

The best route is to buy a cheap rolling Kart chassis , a lawn
mower will only get you a diff. If you are on a budget build I
would just go with a live axle, of which many of us are using
successfully.

Good advice TimW, builds are not usually too expensive, most of
the ones you will see in the U.K will have been completed for
less than £2500 - the price of a reasonable mountain bike. A lot
of the cyclekarts you see were a lot less than that.
All four wheels, tyres and tubes from Alex by phone call to red
circles for a cyclekart are £210 delivered.
Engines can be had for as little as £80 new delivered (Make sure
you get one with a 3/4" - 19.05mm shaft)

The CVT gearbox can be had for about £45

A simple ladder chassis would be about £100 in materials and
welding supplies.
Axles are around £80 from kart shops, the sprocket and hubs are
often available second hand on Marketplace, adapters for wheels
can be bought from the Cylekart Workshop or Gemini Karts

As can front axles and springs.
I don't know the engine on offer in the first link or anyone who
uses it, but it would suffice for a cheap build.
