ARRIVE & DRIVE @ STRETTON CIRCUIT - 14 JULY 2026
DIR By: Ian F
Date: June 19, 2026, 5:59 am
---------------------------------------------------------
Hi all,
Following on from the success of the "arrive & drive" earlier in
the week, I am looking at having another informal Midlands
Region meet at Stretton Kart Circuit on Tuesday 14th July.
To keep things simple, this will be another non-CKGB event,
therefore it will not need to be endorsed by the committee. It
will simply be taking advantage of the tracks "arrive & drive"
format. Consequently, I will be acting as a facilitator rather
than an organiser. All drivers would be required to sign the
tracks disclaimer and pay the track on arrival. Cost expected
to be £30 once again, which is great value for money ;D ;D
Currently, whilst there are no corporate bookings for this day,
there will be a school there from about 11:30. Corporate
bookings and the school will take precedent over "arrive &
drive", but we are sure to get plenty of opportunity to get lots
of track time in. We will also be able to run 4 different track
configurations.
During any periods of "corporate" activities, we can have a chat
about developing the Midlands Region.
Camping may be available Monday night, but the gates are
generally locked from about 18:00. Please let me know if you
require camping.
Whilst this is a Midlands Region event, it will be open to all
CKGB members. Also, as we are running under the circuits
jurisdiction it would be a good opportunity for members friends
and acquaintances to have a taster, without the need for club
membership or a NORA licence.
We will be using "roving marshals", so all drivers will wear
their CKGB hi-vis vest so they can respond to any incidents as
they come across them.
Please could I ask any likely drivers to post their probability
of attendance, which I will list below?
Ian Fletcher 100%
Gillian Pickup 100%
Jay Pratt 100%
Bill & Xan Alexander 100%
Granville 99%
Tim Wheater 100%
Brian Jones 60%
Dave 100%
Rhys Nolan 0%
Jim Tanner 80%
Nigel Burrows 80%
Tim Holdsworth 100%
Colin Pratt 100%

Hi all, quick update on our visit to Stretton next week. I have
just checked and there are currently no Corporate bookings, so
it looks like UPDATE FOR TUESDAY 14th JULY
Currently in the morning and up to about 13:00, we will have the
track mainly to ourselves. In the afternoon there are a coupe
of corporate bookings, plus a school, so we will be taking turns
to be out in short sessions throughout the afternoon.
Turn up from about 08:30 to be ready for signing on about 09:30
to 09:45, so we can be out on circuit about 10:00, and remember
to bring your "arrive and drive" money to pay the circuit (I
believe we will have a special rate of £30 again).
Please bring your CKGB marshal vest with you as we will wear
these whilst we are driving round so we can act as "roving
marshals".
You will need a full face helmet, gloves, closed-toe footwear,
plus clothing made of a stout material (preferably overalls)
that cover from ankles to wrists and neck.
Please also remember I am only acting as a facilitator and not
an organiser, so whilst I will lead briefs on what we can do, we
are acting under the jurisdiction of the circuit so each
individual needs to be aware of the risks, make their own risk
assessments and act accordingly.

Ian
it's looking bit iffy for me - my karts in bits and I'm still
waiting for Royal Mail to deliver parts from Gemini.
Also, as I needed a new belt, I thought I'd treat myself to a
genuine Comet one. I have the usual eBay cheap torque converter
and the two don't seem to marry up. The belt doesn't allow tick
over - there's no slip. Has anyone else had this problem ?
so I've sent for the cheaper belts -m I'm hoping they come
Monday.

Unfortunately I'm not going to make it to Stretton today. A job
I'm working on has over run and I can't get the time off.
