CKGB @ THE OULTON PARK "GOLD CUP" 29th - 31st AUGUST

This first post of this topic will be updated as and when
information is received or becomes available.
DATE: 29th to 31st August
VENUE: Oulton Park International Race Circuit near Chester
STATUS: National - Endorsed
DESCRIPTION: Static and dynamic displays on our own track, which
will be created from an existing rally experience stage with a
polished concrete surface, and including a grass portion for the
paddock. This is a headlining three day event with historic
races ranging from VSCC veteran cars to F1.
In addition to the races on the race track, there will be a
massive display of classic cars, classis buses, a classic car
concourse, classic car auction, trade stands and live music.
Our area will be roughly central to all this activity.
Due to noise limitations, there is no racing Sunday morning, so
this is when we will concentrate on our static display.
It is planned to have a variety of dynamic activities on
Saturday plus the Sunday afternoon, and Monday.

JURISDICTION: NORA permit
EVENT SUPPORT ROLES:
Event Lead (General event management and Planning) – Ian
Fletcher
Clerk of Course (Risk assessment and ensuring regulation
compliance) – Ade Colmar under training by a Senior Clerk
Deputy Clerks of Course (Various supporting duties, especially
start line duties) – Ian Fletcher plus ?
Event Secretary (Processing entry forms & signing-on) – Tim
Holdsworth
Chief Marshal (Managing the marshal roster and briefing
marshals) - ?
Marshals – All entrants are expected to take turns to marshal
the activities.
Medical - Provided by venue
EVENT REGULATIONS: “To be issued”
ENTRY FORM: “To be issued”
COSTS: To be confirmed. Expected to be about £40 per driver
for full weekend including camping. Slightly less for
additional drivers and less again for accompanying persons.
ACTIVITIES: In addition to the static display, there will be
demonstration driving. However, the track has very little grip
in some areas, whilst high speeds are achieved in other areas.
Consequently, there may be a sprint on a shortened version of
the demonstration track.
OTHER COMMENTS: Camping available, details to follow.
No dogs or other animals are allowed on site.
Electronic entry tickets will be emailed to all accepted
entrants (and accompanying support person) in the week prior to
the event.
Full-face helmets will be required for this event.

ENTRY LIMITATIONS: Any limitations will depend on how many
members volunteer to be officials. However, it is hoped that we
can support between 35 and 40 entrants.
The track has very little grip in some areas, whilst high speeds
are achieved in other areas. Consequently, only experienced
cyclekart drivers and proven cyclekarts are likely to be
accepted for this event.
ENTRANTS: Please can you give an early indication of entering
by posting a % probability of entry, which will allow the club
to gauge the amount of support required and finalise the entry
fees.
If the number of entrants needs to be limited, then a list of
"approved" entrants will be posted. Only APPROVED persons can
submit an entry form.

WOW, what a response :D
Many thanks to all those that have posted their probability of
entry for this event. Your responses greatly help with setting
the entry fee and defining the composition and size the support
team.
Last year the limitation in entries was 30, and whilst we did
not need to reject any entries, we were right on the limit.
For this year I am currently negotiating a larger camping area
(last years limiting factor), but there is then the capacity of
the track, and the size of support team that will be required.
Consequently, this year if we are going to accept more than 30
drivers. I will be selecting the most viable persons from the
entry list and then asking them to volunteer to fill various
posts. So, if we get a robust support team, then we may be able
to increase the entry level from 30 drivers to 35 or possible
even 40.
Once the entry size has been defined, the people on the list, in
list order, will be annotated as being "APPROVED" and then they
will be able to submit the entry form.
If an entry is not received within a reasonable amount of time,
then the next person on the list will be "APPROVED" ;D

SAFETY
The track that the CKGB activities will take place on has a hard
concrete surface with low-grip in some areas, plus speeds of up
to 40mph are expected.
Consequently, please be aware that full-face helmets (with
visors or goggles) will be required for this event.
In addition, clothing made from reasonably abrasion resistant
material that covers the body to the wrists and ankles will also
be required together with strong gloves.
This will be detailed in the Event Regulations when they are
issued.

REQUEST FOR A CLERK OF COURSE
I am currently down as the Clerk of Course for this event, but
it would be great if one of our other Clerks could be the clerk
for this event. I am not looking for any of the Senior Clerks
to take this on, but one of our less experienced clerks, so that
they can gain some further experience.
Please note, a senior clerk would be working alongside them to
help them through the duties ;D

Hi John, as per the heading post:

So add a post with your % probability, and you will be added to
the list. However, please note that this event is likely to be
limited to 35 drivers and that there are currently about 40
drivers listed. It is still quite a while till the event and
some may drop out, or may only be going for one day, in which
case entries from further down the list may be accepted.
