"The Booker Bandit" Alfa P3

Here we go why the Booker Bandit. We are three friends and
members of Booker Gliding Club and Vintage Glider enthusiasts
who love old stuff and tinkering . Graham(Tea maker) saw a demo
at Brooklands. Dunky provided the enthusiasm to get going and an
engine and me(Robin) welds bits and tries to keep the workshop
tidy. Graham had always had the desire to build a vintage
special with an Aero engine but the Cyclekart seemed like a good
alternative. We visited Mark at his workshop and also the recent
builders meet. We came away with a few bits lots of photos and
the project is underway. I have attached a few pics of where we
are today.

Just an update on the Booker Bandit. As I's sure you all know,
you can be working on all sorts of bits and pieces, but when you
take pics of the car, nothing has changed ! We have drilled the
chassis for the spring shackles and cut tubing and doublers,
ready for welding. Made brass bushes for the front axle and made
the steering front bearing support, bolted to the chassis in
case we want to upgrade to a geared steering set-up. I used
Paxolin for the bearing and steering stops. We have mulled over
the Ackerman steering geometry and decided we need about 14
degrees on the steering arms, with 1000mm track and 1665mm wheel
base. At the back end, the engine and shafts layout is more or
less finalised, so we can do a bit more welding.
