SANTA POD - END OF SEASON FINALE
       By: Ian F Date: September 8, 2025, 10:26 am
       ---------------------------------------------------------
This first post of this topic will be updated as and when
information is received or becomes available.
       DATE: 18th to 19th October 2025
VENUE: Santa Pod Raceway near Rushden
STATUS: Endorsed and NORA permit issued.
DESCRIPTION: Following the cancellation of the Lincoln Kit Car
Festival and then the cancellation of the CKGB aspect of
Shuttleworth Race Day, this event will now be the CKGB finale
for 2025. We have sole use of the Santa Pod Live Action Arena
for the full weekend. We can configure a variety of tracks
within the arena, so there will be various dynamic activities
(general practice, sprints, pursuit racing and driving tests,
and possibly some team relay races).
Here is a video of cyclekarts at Dragstalgia last year to give
you an idea of the arena and activities :
  HTML https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UF6w4GG07O0&t=111s

       JURISDICTION: NORA permit

       EVENT SUPPORT ROLES:
       Event Lead – Ian Fletcher
Clerk of Course – Ian Fletcher
Deputy Clerks of Course – Ed Powell, Ian Smythe
       Event Secretary – Tim Holdsworth
Marshals/Timekeeper – Entrants will be expected to take turns as
marshals and possibly timekeepers and starters.
Medical - Full cover provided by the venue, but Ed Powell can
       deal with minor injuries.
EVENT REGULATIONS: See attachment at the foot of this post
(ensure you are logged in to view it).
Note the requirement for full-face helmets and robust gloves and
       clothing.
COSTS: The costs are detailed on the Entry Form, which is an
attachment at the foot of this post (ensure you are logged in to
view it). The costing structure for Santa Pod is a tad
complicated so additional drivers will be paying the same as the
lead driver. Single day entry does not include camping, only
       the weekend entry.
OTHER COMMENTS: Camping available on site for Saturday. I am
awaiting confirmation of camping for the Friday night for
       weekend entrants.
       ENTRANTS:
Please can you give an early indication of entering by posting a
% probability of entry, which will allow the club to finalise
       the entry fees.
Please can you also indicate if you can fill any of the event
       support roles.
Tim Wheater 100% - All weekend - ENTERED.

The Event Regulations have now been issued (see the first post).
Following various incidents this season there are some changes
to the safety wear requirements as follows:
NOTE: FOR THIS EVENT FULL-FACE HELMETS (WITH VISORS OR GOGGLES)
ARE TO BE WORN, NOT OPEN FACE HELMETS.
NOTE: FOR THIS EVENT THE CLOTHING IS TO BE MADE FROM REASONABLY
STRONG AND ABRASION RESISTANT MATERIAL AND SHOULD COVER THE BODY
TO THE ANKLES, WRISTS AND NECK. STOUT GLOVES ARE ALSO TO BE
       WORN.
Regarding costs, the club will be subsidising the entry fees for
this event. The Entry Form is still in draft, but the basic
costs are detailed int he first post above.

Hi Ian, can you remind us of what standard crash helmets need to
       be.
       Cheers Nick

Hi Ian. Is this full face helmet thing going to become the norm
       for future events?

Hi Nick, I don't want this topic to turn into a discussion on
helmets, but it is an issue currently being discussed by the
       committee.
Based on incidents this year (one of which was at Dragstalgia)
the risk assessment I have completed for the season finale has
concluded that full-face helmets are required for this event.

This is an extract from the current NORA /CKGB regs:
       6.2 Clothing
       a. For all competition events a crash helmet conforming to UK
Motorcycle Road Law must be worn
(Standards shown are correct at date of printing)
British Standard BS 6658:1985 and carry the BSI Kitemark
       UNECE Regulation 22.05
A European Economic Area member standard offering at least the
       same safety and
protection as BS 6658:1985, and carry a mark equivalent to the
       BSI Kitemark

The Entry Form for this event has now been issued (attachment to
       the first post).
There have also been some amendments to the first post, and
       these are in red text.

       EVENT UPDATE
Is anyone else interested in this event?
Please note the events I was Event Lead for this season, were to
show what is available if there is enough support.
The list of events for next year will be produced based on the
results of the recent survey, the entries received for the
events this season, and the availability of a support team.
Currently, based on the number of entries, this event does not
       appear viable for 2026.

Andy, Jane and Terry, thanks very much for adding your support
to the event, I hope you have an enjoyable event ;D
Please note there is no official camping for the Friday night,
but if this is an issue for you please email me.
The entry list closes on Sunday 12th October if anyone else
       wants to join us.
Currently there are a total of 12 cycklekarts and 13 drivers,
with 7 drivers on the Saturday and 12 drivers on the Sunday.
Therefore, there will be plenty of time for running your
cyclekarts and to also have a variety of activities, depending
on what people want to do on each day.
