Where do I get the springs from?
There is a huge lack of Shakers around here.

A few people have got them from Midland Motor Springs. They’re
custom made so not cheap.
From memory mine were £120 for a pair including bushes and VAT
Might be worth seeing if anybody else is about to buy and
getting a discount.
I’ll try to add some more info about sources for stuff in the
next few days.

www.midlandmotorsprings.com £100+vat for a pair of springs with
bushes (560mm centres, 5mm thick, 38mm wide, 80mm camber)
Be aware, when I received mine they had been made in Imperial
nearest measurements - so worth checking if it’s important to
you.
I was offerered u-bolts but they were custom made and hence
expensive. Normal exhaust clamps are much cheaper.
Delivery was also quite expensive, I arranged a courier to
collect them for about £6

I have a pair of the proven ones on the way from the US (it's a
deal I did) so the dimensions of what has worked for almost all
US built ones will be available in the next week or so.
I suggest holding off ordering for the moment.

The set of buggy springs ex the US are in my hands, so some
measurements which may help.
Width, 32 mm
Thickness of main leaf 5 mm
Eye to eye, 590 mm (straight line) 660 mm along the length of
the leaf.
Arch, 100 mm
Length of second leaf, 360 mm, same thickness
Eyes 10 mm.
I do not know if both leaves are normally used, but have asked.
With transverse springs (Austin 7, Peugeot Quadrilette) I know
both leaves are used.
I think it might be worth actually checking the cost to have
them ex US if the UK price is going to be £120/ pair. Packet
weighed 6 pounds.
$160 buys enough to make 2 cars worth.

All it needs is the other half and you are on your way Adrian. I
now have at least 3 sets of springs, probably more like 5 sets
of different varieties.

Hi Rhys, who was your supplier in the US?

www.buggy.com/parts2 was where mine came from, but it was
indirect as my friend Doug (Johnny Dumfries at Gittreville) got
them and then split so we have a pair each. As a result I have
no idea what postage might be.
