       TAV belt slipping
By: Paddy the pilot Date: July 20, 2025, 2:28 am
       ---------------------------------------------------------
The belt slips on the secondary pulley on my TAV, it is an
intermittent slip and sounds like a machine gun and produces a
large vibration. It does it under heavy load/acceleration and at
most speeds, it has done it since installation so it isn't
something that just started. I have had the thing apart and
put back together several times without any change the only
thing I notice is that the flat part of both pulleys do not line
up exactly and I'm wondering if the spacer on the crankshaft is
       the wrong size.
       Any help would be appreciated.

Had a few belts slip and burn out when I started. Ended up with
washer /spacers on the TAV to get the back plates in line, thin
steel bar across the flat surfaces. Will show how much out of
       line they are.

The Clone Torque Converters are basically, all dimensionally the
       same !
The only thing you can get wrong is the alignment of the inner,
flat faces of the driver and driven pulleys.
Use the back of a new hacksaw blade to check for parallel and in
       line.
(Shims of 0.5 and 1mm thickness are available online and they
enable you to get a perfect alignment)

Some of the TAVs from eBay seem to be out of line despite
fitting the spacers supplied. I have had to put my own spacers
in to get the two pulleys to line up.

There are potential differences not only with the TAV, but some
of the clone motors mounting bolts can be different. Yes,
spacers, and sometimes shims are needed, and sadly this is a
case where "One size does NOT fit all"
