25th to 27th JULY - "GOLD CUP" EVENT AT OULTON PARK RA
CE CIRCUIT

This first post of this topic will be updated as and when
information is received or becomes available.
DATE: 25th to 27th July
VENUE: Oulton Park Race Circuit near Chester
STATUS: Endorsed
DESCRIPTION: Static and dynamic displays on our own track, which
will be created from an existing rally experience stage with a
polished concrete surface, and including a grass portion. This
is a headlining three day event with historic races ranging from
VSCC veteran cars to F1.
In addition to the races on the race track, there will be a
massive display of classic cars, classis buses, a classic car
concourse, classic car auction, trade stands and live music.
Our area will be roughly central to all this activity.
Due to noise limitations, there is no racing Sunday morning, so
this is when we will concentrate on our static display.
It is planned to have a variety of dynamic activities on Friday
and Saturday plus the Sunday afternoon.

Medical - Provided by venue
EVENT REGULATIONS: “To be issued”
COSTS: To be confirmed. A very rough estimate is £65 per
driver for full weekend including camping. Slightly less for
additional drivers and less again for accompanying persons
OTHER COMMENTS: Camping available, details to follow.
No dogs or other animals are allowed on site.
ENTRANTS:
Please can you give an early indication of entering by posting a
% probability of entry, plus what you will be doing for
overnight accommodation, which will allow the club to finalise
the entry fees.
Please can you also indicate if you can fill any of the event
support roles.

Jim Rawnsley and myself had a great site visit to Oulton Park to
recce the site prior to the event.
The track is fantastic, being a polished concrete surface with
very wide bends. There are lots of twists and turns with very
wide corners. The condition of the grass area where we were
considering having a cut-through to form a continuous loop is
not suitable. Consequently, the track will be laid out with
separate start and finish lines, and a slow link road between
them. Therefore, on completion of a run slow down to walking
ace and return to the paddock, or queue for another run.
We may release the cyclekarts singly, in pairs, or in small
groups depending on experience.
Please accept that we are here to entertain the public rather
than to see how fast we can go. Subsequently, we need to keep
the action going on the track and to make it look exciting
rather than someone roaring off and leaving the others behind.
Anyone getting too "excited" will be given time to "calm down"
;) before going out on track again ;D
We are looking to have team relay races (probably 4 or 5
cyclekarts per team), but again this is for show and not racing!
So lets create an illusion of racing but dont let any large
leads build up 8)
CAMPING
There is a separate camping area, and camping is still being
negotiated. Consequently, please can I ask everyone who has
posted a likelihood of entering to also post their intentions
regarding overnight accommodation? For example:
Local B&B or hotel.
Motorhome or campervan.
Caravan.
Tent.

IMPORTANT REQUIREMENT REGARDING ACCOMODATION
Thanks to all of those that have notified their overnight
accommodation details so far ;D
As detailed above, I am trying to negotiate free camping near to
our track, but need details as detailed in a previous post.
Some people may have to use the official track campsite, for
which there is a fee and it is way across the other side of the
circuit.

I have been finalising details today with Motor Sports Vision
who own Oulton Park race circuit. Consequently, the Entry Form
and Event Regulations can now been completed and i expect they
will be issued as attachments to the heading post of this topic
in the next few days (make sure you are logged in to see the
attachments).
Thanks to everyone that notified their probability of attending,
which has enabled me to set the entry fee. Thanks to those that
also took the trouble to notify me of their accommodation
intention. Based on your response, we will be able to camp
adjacent to our track, and not have to use the camping field
which has massive queues in the morning to access the circuit.
There will be a limit of 30 entrants for this event,
consequently only those that have been approved in the heading
post are to submit entry forms. There will be no refunds for
"mistakes".
Some approved members have not notified their accommodation
requirements, so I am unsure if they still intend to enter the
event? Consequently, if you are no longer intending to enter,
please add a comment below so the list can be updated and a slot
can be opened up for someone else.
If you have not notified your probability of entry but would
like to enter, then please also comment below and you will be
added as a reserve.

I’m waiting for a date for an eye operation, still waiting so
probably better to reallocate my booking to someone else.

I have just issued the Regulations and also the Entry Form for
this event, which are attached to the heading post of this topic
(remember to log in to view the attachments).
I have managed to secure camping adjacent to our display area,
which has significantly reduced costs.
The entry has been limited to 30 drivers, so that includes
everyone that has posted a probability of attendance.
Consequently, only enter once you have received approval.
Furthermore, to help the treasurer check entry payment has been
made, please use the reference on the entry form when making you
bank transfer.

PLEASE NOTE
We have now reached the limit of 30 entrants, so anyone else
posting a probability of attending will be listed as a reserve.
As we draw closer the situation will be reviewed and if entries
have not been received we will then start accepting the
reserves.

****THE DEADLINE FOR ENTRIES IS APPROACHING****
OK Team, Oulton Park is shaping up to be a fantastic event.
We currently have 27 cars entered. It would be great if we could
get this over 30 by the end of the weekend.
COB Monday is the deadline for informing MSV who is attending to
allow them time to get the tickets emailed out to everybody. To
meet that deadline, can I ask that any outstanding entry forms
be with me no later than lunchtime on Monday?
If you have any questions, please let me know.
