Chassis material and sizes

Hoping to end up with a GN style replica. I was all for wood but
now I think steel would be much easier for my first cycle kart.
I can weld and have stuff to cut it.
So I see people use 75 x 25mm I assume ERW about 1.5mm thick?
I wondered about 25mm x 25mm or 25 x 50?
So thoughts please

It really depends on the design of the chassis. A simple ladder
chassis made from 25mm square tubing of any thickness would not
have enough torsional rigidity. However, a rudimentary
spaceframe made in 25mm square tubing with aluminium sheet
riveted and bonded can be very stiff. The Lotus Seven chassis
and its many clones is testament to that. If you don't mind the
extra welding and endless pop rivetting, your chassis and much
of your bodywork is created at the same time. It is a very
efficient way of building a lightweight car.

Thanks I didn’t think of it like that.
I do wonder how much rigidity it would need as it has so little
power.i have built a lotus 7 chassis in the past but it’s no
good for the GN unless I have the bracing under the body?
