Leather Bonnet Straps or Luggage/Fuel Tank Straps

If you want to have bonnet straps or luggage/mock fuel tank
       straps?
For my CycleCar I bought 2 off matching horse stirrup straps. 49
       inches long with SS buckles.
       The pair was £5 used.
Give them a good wash, then treat with saddle soap/ horse tack
       cleaner /feeder.
As I have a nosed bonnet. I placed a buckle where I wanted it.
Cut off the end, where I would attach it to the car. I did this
       with both.
I then had a shorter tail and a longer tail.
Swapped them so longer tail with longer buckle end. Shorter with
       shorter.
Since then I have bought a whole bag of old horse tack at a car
       boot for £2.
Needed a good scrub and was quite dry and hard. A good coating
of Vaseline and leather feeder. Left in a plastic bag for a week
to really soak in. Hey presto 👍
I just made the tuck loop for these, from a leather offcut.
As per horse tack, you cut a long scarf joint, to stitch
       together.
You make a neat row of holes with a home made tool that looks
like the end of a small fork.
Or you can mark and drill or mark and punch.
The other two are 44inch long new hide belts from Choice Outlet
       Store. Brass buckles. £5 each.
Sort through as not all their belts are 100% leather.

Good looking straps Richard, and the leather will be top quality
considering what they have been used for. Very nice.
