1934 Singer Le Mans
By: Paddy the pilot Date: August 31, 2024, 9:17 am

I have joined Scotty as a builder north of Hadrian's Wall and
hope my journal encourages a few more in Scotland.
My inspiration car is a 1934 Singer Le Mans. I started the
frame rails last week, putting the tapers on the front end.

Having freshly arrived from the USA this mm business is still
somewhat of a mystery to me. I bought 1" X 3" X 0.06 which I
believe is 25 x 75 x 1.5 mm on line as it was something I
recognised, I'd put my micrometer but that is imperial too,
you'll just have to bear with a Yank!
Obviously I have found out how to reply to a post, now if
somebody can tell me how to continue adding to my build journal
I have more photos of this weekends progress

The weekend has been quite productive, a big thank you to Scotty
who donated his platform/jig. it got a coat of paint to cover
his drawing and mine was added. Everything was carefully
measured, re-measured and blocked in place, then tack welded.
If only I got the photo the right way up !

Good start Paddy, I usually download my photos to desktop, get
the orientation right there and then import them into the forum
post. Seems to work for me :)

More work completed, we're now looking more like a frame.
Now I have to clean things up a bit and think about axles,
springs etc.

A little further along this week, rear axle set and bearing
hangers welded. Anybody else noticed the phenomena that all
your best looking welds are reserved for the underside where
nobody can see them ?

Finally managed to get back to working on my build, floors in
almost! It is temporally held in place with cleco pins but by
tomorrow it should be permanent.
Next I intend to start on the framework for the bodywork.
