       Midlanders Unite

Judging from a recent post on Facebook it looks like there is
now an appetite for a Midland Group of CycleKarters. This is a
sign of much great progress generally within the club .... well
done to all who put in hard work behind the scenes.
A Midland group could offer more contact between builders with
an opportunity to meet up to discuss technical matters and also
       some track activity.
I have recently been in contact with Stretton Circuit Leicester
to understand the possibility of just turning up for test and
tune days and they have looked upon this favourably. The fee is
£35 for the day. We would have to fit around any corporate karts
booked on track, however from past experience this has not been
a problem if a mid-week day is chosen.
We would be individual fee-payers to the circuit (not as a club)
and as such fall under their regulations for the day, avoiding
       CKGB NORA paperwork.
Jay, you initiated the original post on Facebook, can you
confirm that you see this as a way forward and also whether it
is your wish to head-up the group please.
If anybody else has additional thoughts on this please also
       comment.

What are you classing as Midlands, where's your North, South,
East (presumably the North Sea) & West borders?

Does it need formal borders? Just like minded people from the
middle of the country is how I would see it. Less formality =
       more fun IMHO.

No, but living on the North Notts/South Yorks border it's
sometimes like being in no man's land, neither North, South or
       at times Midlands

I would suggest the aim of Regional Groups is to promote
cyclekarting within an area or region. This can include
organising and running events, builders meets and social
       gatherings, etc.
These activities would be open to all members but the low-key
nature of some may mean that only local members would attend due
to travelling time, fuel costs and possibly accommodation costs.
Now that the number of club members is growing to a significant
figure, I expect more regional groups will be formed.
Once regional groups are established, it may be possible for
them to adopt the larger National events in their region and run
or assist with planning, management and assistance, which would
       greatly help the hard-working committee.
Regards the Midlands Group, this Region is being discussed this
weekend during the Santa Pod Dragstalgia event. Therefore, more
detailed information about the group is expected to be released
in the next couple of weeks.

It was good to chat about this with you Ian and I look forward
       to what's possibly coming up.
