Ground clearance
By: Viking68 Date: March 28, 2024, 9:01 am

Hi all, what is the recommended ground clearance from the bottom
of the front axle mounts? 100mm looks quite common although my
chassis sits at about 75mm of my dwawing. This is due to the
arch I've had bent for my chassis over the front axle. If 100mm
is required then I would have to mount my leaf springs on the
side, like the Buggati set up. Any input would be appreciated,
cheers...

Don't think 3 inch is too low, looking at some of the US
cyclekarts they are running at around 2 inch for tarmac tracks.

Not exactly sure which bit of clearance you mean Viking, spring
or ground?, if it is just ground clearance, we have karts in the
U.K. that run less than 2" - those might ground out on softer,
bumpier ground conditions so would not be an advantage in say
trails events or grasstrack. Have a look at the AGM photos and
see the varaiety we run here...

My ground clearance is adjustable. I like it to be the exact
height of the steel toecaps on the size 12 boots I always wear,
as it makes setting it all up easier. My foot is a feeler gauge.
