       15/16 JUNE - BROOKLANDS "DOUBLE-TWELVE"
       By: Ian F Date: February 6, 2024, 9:58 am
       ---------------------------------------------------------
This first post of this topic will be updated as and when
information is received or becomes available. If you are
interested in entering, please add a post with the % probability
of entering and I will add your name to the list of entrants
below. This information will help the committee plan the
       required resources.
       DATE:
15/16 June, entrants will need to be on-site and set up prior to
       the public admission time.
       VENUE:
       Brooklands Museum.
       DESCRIPTION:
Recreating the atmosphere of the iconic "Double-Twelve" that
took pace here in the 1920s. This was the UKs answer to the
Le-Mans 24 hour race, but they were not allowed to race at night
due to the local residents. Consequently, the race was split
       into two 12 hour sessions.

CKGB activities to be confirmed but in addition to static
displays (under gazebos provided by Brooklands), there expected
to be extended runs on the "Mercedes World" track on the
Saturday. On Sunday there are expected to be demonstration runs
on the start/finish straight plus runs up "Test-Hill".
Period dress is encouraged, and we will be setting out our
static display like a period race bay, so bring and period
       tools, equipment, etc with you.
Cyclekarts can be left on site for Saturday evening, but there
       is no camping on-site.
       CKGB LEAD:
       Stefan.
       EVENT REGULATIONS:
       [attach=4]
       COSTS:
£10 for entrant, £5 for additional drivers. If you're planning
on bringing more that one cyclekart, please email Stefan.
       BOOKING FORM:
The deadline for booking was 9th June.
       MORE DETAILS:
       Friday
       Enter via the Campbell Gate.
Cyclekarts in trailers can be dropped off at the museum between
10am and 4pm. The gazebos will NOT be up so bring a cover if
needed. You will need to be on site on Saturday to unload and
move your trailer to the holding area before the museum opens to
       the public at 9:30am
       Saturday
       We can arrive from 7am
Must be set up and trailer parked before 9:30am
We will have gazebos but may not have enough space for all 18
cyclekarts so please bring a cover.
All drivers MUST attend the briefing that will be at approx 10am
We will drive in convoy over to Mercedes Benz World track along
       with all the other vehicles.
CK's will have a session in the morning and a session in the
       afternoon.
       It's clockwise around the track
       Helmets will be required.
       Finish approx 4pm
       Sunday
Again there will be MANDATORY drivers briefings for the
       activities
       Timings same as Saturday
Morning (approx 9:30am-1pm) CK's will do demonstration (not
timed) runs of the Autotest track under the Museum's permit and
insurance - this will be between timed runs of other vehicles
Afternoon - Race starts and runs up Test Hill. We will review
this with the events team on the day.
       OTHER COMMENTS:
Also includes entrance to the vast museum of cars, bikes, planes
       and buses.
We will be having two "static" competitions as follows:
"Spirit of Brooklands" - An independent judge will be looking
for the the "Top-5" Cyclekarts that capture the innovation and
       courage that pervades Brooklands.
"Best Cyclekart Displays" - Another independent judge will be
judging this competition, so please bring some vintage bling and
paraphinalia to enhance your pit space. period clothing will

Plans are getting clearer with Brooklands so we will be there on
Sat and Sun. Sat's activities will be focussed on the Mercedes
Benz World track with opportunities for extended parade laps of
the track. Sun will follow the familiar format as described
above. CK's can stay on-site overnight Saturday.
We'll be trying to make sure our static display area has lots of
stuff appropriate to a period race bay, so have a think about
what you might bring. Oh and period attire really does help and
       might win you a prize!
       Full details to follow.

The top post now has a template to help you create a briefing
about your cyclekart(s) for the commentary team. Once you've
written yours, please send it to ckgbchair@gmail.com by 10th
June so we can forward them to the Museum.

The booking form is an online form and should work on computers,

       BROOKLANDS UPDATE
Unfortunately, it will not be possible to camp at Brooklands.
However, if required we can drop off the CKs on the Friday, but
unsure of timing at the moment.
I have booked into Chertsey campsite, and I think some others
       are there as well ;D
