ting and the Newark Kit Car Festival)
By: Ian F Date: February 6, 2024, 9:56 am
---------------------------------------------------------
This first post of this topic will be updated as and when
information is received or becomes available. If you are
interested in entering, please add a post with the % probability
of entering and I will add your name to the list of entrants
below. This information will help the committee plan the
required resources.
DATE:
20/21/22 September.
VENUE:
Friday 20th - CKGB racing at ELK Karting near Newark.
Sat/Sun 21/22nd - CKGB static and dynamic displays at the Newark
Showground as part of the Newark Kit Car Festival.
DESCRIPTION:
ELK Karting has a tarmac kart track, where we will have a test
and tune event hosted by ELK motorsport.
HTML https://www.elkmotorsport.co.uk/
At the Kit Car show, CKGB will have a static display area plus a
grass dynamic display area.
HTML https://newarkkitcarfestival.co.uk/
CKGB LEAD:
ELK - [s]Mark Underdown[/s] Jim Rawnsley
Kit Car Show - Ian Fletcher
EVENT REGULATIONS:
There are two sets of regulations, one for the activity on
Friday provided by ELK Motorsport (under their jurisdiction and
insurance). Plus another for the CKGB activities at the Newark
Kit Car Festival activities (which will run under a NORA
permit). Both sets of event regulations are available as
attachments below).
COSTS:
There will be three aspects to the cost, one is the cost of
entry/use of the kart circuit at ELK on the Friday (see ELK
Entry Regulations for details), another is to the show for entry
and camping (payable to the show), and the other is for the NORA
permit and driver fee (payable to CKGB) for our activities at
the show:
Entry to the Newark Kit Car Festival is free to drivers that
have their cyclekarts with them at the gate. Camping for the
weekend is also free for the drivers. Passengers need to pay
for entry at £10 per day for an advance ticket (or on the day).
Camping for passengers is £20 for an advance ticket or £30 at
the gate (includes entry to the show on both days). Tickets can
be obtained from
HTML https://newarkkitcarfestival.co.uk/tickets/
The Newark Kit Car Festival CKGB costs are detailed on the Entry
Form (attachment at the bottom of this heading post). Note that
there is an early bird discount for those entering by midnight
Wednesday 28th August. The entry list closes on Sunday 15th
September. [/color]
OTHER COMMENTS:
ELK Karting is right next to Newark Showground.
Camping is available at the showground on Friday and Saturday
nights in a dedicated area within the showground, but no
electric hook-up.
“Knobbly” motor-cross type tyres will cut up the surface of the
CKGB grass track, consequently only “road-pattern” tyres are
allowed for the dynamic activities on the grass track.
Knobblies are acceptable for the static displays plus activities
on the ELK kart track on the Friday.
"CONCOURSE ILLUMINERE"
[/b]
On Saturday night at Newark we will hold the "static" display
competition ;D
This will be for the best lighting on a cycklekart. This can be
either headlights, sidelights, etc or it can be leftover fairy
lights from Christmas. The only rule, is no candles or
tea-lights on top of the fuel tank ;)

Hi Ian, does a +1 driver count as a driver or a passenger? Just
so I know where we're at.
Thanks.

UPDATE 20/824
I have just spoken to the show organisers and we will be in the
same location as last year, but with a bigger area ;D
For those drivers that are sharing a Cyclekart, it is the
cyclekart that gets the driver free entry. Consequently, if
there is more than one driver, the additional drivers will need
an entry ticket.

The Entry Regulations for the activity at ELK Motorsport on the

this topic).
Many thanks to Mark Underdown for initiating this, and also to
Jim Rawnsley for recently taking over as lead as Mark is
currently snowed under with his work.

UPDATE to concourse illuminere.
It looks like we can now judge this upon slow parade laps of the
track after dusk and perhaps have a parade around the showground
all together after judging at slow pace (5mph limit on
showground roads).
So, do what we do best and get inventive. Get the fairy lights
off the xmas tree, raid the bargain bins in the gardening
section of Asda, borrow next doors solar powered garden gnome,
wear the LED deelyboppers, decorate your mustachio with
glow-sticks and join in the fun, and I believe world
championship points are allocated to this one Ian if I am not
mistaken? (Checked and yes, World Championship points)

A very big thank you to Ian and Jim and everybody else that
helped to put the weekend together. It was a massive success,
enjoyed by all. The novelty events were fun and Mark's
demonstration of how to strip [s]and rebuild[/s] a Honda engine
much appreciated.

Its been a busy few days after Newark with going to Stretton
straight after.
Anyhow, I would just like to thank everyone for a great Autumn
Extravaganza, especially Jim for sorting the Friday at Elk and
Ed for his great marshalling at Newark. Also Gillie and Zoe for
the timekeeping, and Ed and Zoe for judging the concourse
illuminaire.
I think you all enjoyed the "double-oval" track layout, and this
will be used further in the future.
The sprint results based on consistency also seemed to be widely
appreciated.
I was absolutely overwhelmed by the amount of effort yu all put
into the Concourse Illuminaire, so further light-hearted
concourse will take place on the Saturday evenings of the big
weekend events next year.
There were a couple of minor incidents that demonstrated the
need to diligently comply with the "Cyclekart Safety
Declaration" requirements, and not just tick every box and sign
the form.
Competition results are attached to the heading post.
Lots of photos and videos on our Facebook page.
