If you are running a #420 chain, the rear sprocket will be about
that large (anywhere from a 60 to 70 tooth sprocket to give you
a final drive ratio between 6:1 and 7:1 from the 10 tooth cog at
the torque convertor) The axle we use most is 25mm as this is
compatible with U.K. Kart parts, look for one that has key-ways
half and half as this gives you many options to place cogs,
brakes and hubs. A quick eBay search should find you one...

Hi Max you could look at 219 sprockets quite a lot smaller & you
can get a driver sprocket for you torque converter. They are
quite common in go kart racing.
Hope this helps.
Cheers Nick

The new handbook published last week (
HTML https://www.cyclekartsgb.com/downloads
) has new information
regarding track. I would read this before you decide to cut as
it should be within the recommendations as is. The axle usually
runs through the hubs ( See Stefans design here...
HTML https://cyclekartsgb.createaforum.com/build-journals/bugatti-type-37-build/msg20/#msg20<br
/>)
Which should have you comfortably within the maximum track.
If you do need to cut them down you may need a circlip groove
machining back on the cut end if you intend to retain the wheel
with a circlip.
Hope this helps
