Austin 7 Twin Cam
By: Glynn Date: December 21, 2023, 10:05 am

Here we go again. This time I'm building an Austin 7 Twin Cam
based on the one I fell in love with at the National Motor
Museum. CAD design is pretty much finished and the chassis is
fabricated. I'm using a 212cc Chinese clone engine, Chinese
clone torque converter with Juggernaut clutch, Chinese clone
Mikuni VM22 carb., Chinese differential from an electric
tricycle and Chinese 220mm hydraulic disk brake. Chain is 219
with a ratio of 6.5:1. Front suspension is transverse leaf
spring. All control rods are 10mm diameter with M8 rose joints.

Hi Glynn, I’m sure it will be well up to spec. Look forward to
chasing it.
Cheers Nick

Looks good Glynn, offset sleeved peerless diff again? Nice
lines! STRIKE THAT. I just read Glynn, the diff from the
electric trike? Interesting. Have you got it already and what
are your thoughts on its construction compared to the peerless?

Hi Jim, Yes I have the diff, it cost me £15 from Aliexpress and
is very robust. Probably not quite as well built as the
Peerless but adequate for our needs and significantly cheaper.

found this one...

and was
wondering if you were going to do direct gear drive.. then I
found a bunch more
this one looks like it'll take a chain sprocket
HTML https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005006353676498.html
was £15, now only £11! (plus £33 postage).. still

The second link with the photo looks like it could be spot on
for a CK. I have driven many Cyclekarts and I find a Diff is
better, with the results from Mark underdown and myself to back
that up. If someone does a group buy I would be interested in
participating.

The biggest group buy in the history of cyclekarts would be
necessary for this one, Spec the axles as you like but buy 100
of em! thats four for every running kart in the U.K. The
peerless ones are getting harder to get!
