Louvres/Louvers - DIY Methods
By: Max Venturi Date: December 18, 2023, 4:53 am
---------------------------------------------------------
I've made a tool based on an idea shown on the FB pages, see
here
HTML https://www.facebook.com/reel/917446416467985
The results aren't very good.
[attach=1]
The steel I've used for the experiment is thicker than the stuff
I'm using on the 'kart but I don't think the results will be any
better.
I wonder if I could modify this press tool to do the job, eg
grind a chamfer on the male part of the tool.
[attach=2]
Louvres made with this would be a bit smaller than I want but if
it worked I could do double rows.
Obviously I'd need to make a lever assembly if I can't get
access to a press.
Thoughts please.
Thanks in advance.

Check the last link in the thread. Here's part of it

This is the one which took me to the scam screen.
If you do get the scam page up, don't panic, it's just a browser
screen so click 'X' on the heading tab and it will go away.

I was looking at drawer cup handles and noticed when put
together they could form some very cheap louvres. These are off
eBay. They can be riveted to Sheet metal ok.

on eBay too

Max, if you look at the DIY method I posted (actually 2
different versions) one of them just uses a long piece of 4 x 2
with one end under something heavy, ie work bench car... and the
die about 3 or 4 feet up, with the receiver on a block. Press
down and give the plank a whack with a mallet. If this photo
comes out I was present when the louvres were made with this
method.
