Clone Engine Tuning
By: Tommy81 Date: October 10, 2023, 7:54 am

Currently compiling parts to build a CK and have been drawn into
looking at Clone Engines which initially look amazing value but
my question is do all the clones and Honda engines share the
same tuning parts?
Do Honda valve springs fit Hyundai engines and so on?

Hi Tommy. In my limited experience yes, all interchangeable.
Check with the gxtuningstoreuk.com they are very helpful. They
tune the Loncin clone.

Thats great news, has anybody used the Hyundai clone?
Also I like the idea of electric start, are there any reasons an
electric start engine can't be tuned the same way as the pull
start engines by removing the governor?

Hi Tommy. I am using a Hyundai clone electric start in my MG M
type. Only had one outing so far starts & runs well, Cant say at
the mo how it will compete with the others.
With the governor it revved at 3500, with the governor by passed
it goes to 5500. Have moved ignition key to the dash. Pictures
of engine installed if your interested on page 6 of my build
journal.
Good luck with your build
Cheers Nick

Thanks Nick, have you done any tuning other than bypassed the
governor on your Hyundai clone?

Hi Tommy. No I am trying to resist going that route for my 1st
season. I want to be sure i have a Kart that is safe & goes
where i intend it to.
Also want to talk to other builders about carburetors exhausts
etc.
Cheers Nick

I spent last night watching Redbeard, some great content and
very relevant to our tuning needs.
