Torsion Springs

Anyone know where I can buy torsion springs with a defined wire
thickness and internal diameter, for a reasonable cost? Loads
of them for sale but most places have no technical information.

Hi Stefan, I used to make anti-roll bars for my race cars from
thick wall steel hydraulic tube. This is readily available in 3m
lengths and not too difficult to bend. I reckon you could make
reasonable torsion springs for a Cyclekart from this. I can dig
out some formulae if your interested.

Thanks Ian. I’m always interested to learn new stuff, but I’m
talking about this sort of spring.

LOL, I'd gone off on a complete tangent there, thought you were
talking about suspension torsion bars 🤭

Thanks, excellent range. £5+ per spring put me off but can’t
see an alternative.

Unless you are lucky Stefan, and a clothes peg yields the
perfect one, it might be your best shot. :)

Stefan, have a look at the cheap little hand springy clamps,
they usually come in sets of several different sized pairs. I
salvaged a couple to give a spring return on brake and throttle
pedals, they work 'perfect'

Son Sean has used both Lee Springs and Springmasters. He says he
got tech info by asking.
