Exhaust..... I bought two u bends of 1” dia steel tube. I only
needed one in the end. £10 on eBay. I also bought a small
silencer for £13 on eBay
I cut off the stock silencer then cut the tube into sections.
Then tack welded it together to try and get a smooth run. When
it all looked guood and fitted I checked the clearance when the
back of the body put back on. Then it took it off and welded it
up on the bench eventually grinding off the welds.
I tested yesterday, can’t tell if it quieter or gives me more
power.. time will tell

With Stretton a few days off it’s time to make some
improvements, first is a grill in the back end to get rid of
heat from the engine. This should make big difference and
doesn’t spoil the looks.
I need to mod the exhaust so it blows out rather than into the
engine bay. Just need to extend and bend the pipe.
Next the fuel pipe. When it comes out of the tank it kind of
gets trapped between the casing that covers the pull start etc.
I’ve put a 25mm hole in the casing and fitted a large grommet.
The new fuel pipe ( rubber, ethanol proofed) will go through it

Steve, having "been there done that" make sure NO swarf has gone
towards the flywheel magnet. If there is even a grain on the
magnet it WILL destroy the ignition pack as it passes through
what used to be a gap. The air gap is business card thick if you
need to remove the ignition pack to make it 200% clean.

That was really good advice Rhys, Thankyou. As a result I
stripped off the cover, removed the ignition pack and blew
everything down with an airline. I hadn’t thought about the
magnet, it had indeed picked up some swarf and iron dust . I’ve
now put back it together and new fuel line installed.

Exhaust now modified to exit blow the rear engine cover and
wrapped in a heat wrap held on with metal ties
