       Atheist Morality

I read an interesting comment the other day. Assume for a moment
that the atheists are right, that there is no God. You could
liken the churches in this world as a framework for developing a
moral code. In a society that believes they will be punished for
eternity by a being that sees all and cannot be escaped if they
do something wrong, people would probably operate in a moral
       way.
You could see religion as a critical part of a developing
society, even if they aren't correct about a God, their values
and way of life would be of great use to a civilization.
To conclude, I think that morals (funnily enough) come from God.
Or at least the idea of him. He does not have to be real to have
an effect on people's lives. What do you guys think?

I'd say that morality predates religion, especially the
Judeo-Christian monstrosity. I mean, have you seen the stuff in
there? We were good before god, and we can be equally as good,
if not more so, after him.

You're absolutely right Rohan. Some of Christianity is
monstrous. Other parts of it aren't though. Its interesting how
the morals of it can be related effectively to the beliefs of
       the people at the time.
I think morals probably existed before churches, but I
definitely think churches helped establish and police them.
