/>Rolling Out New iOS Photo Sync Feature
Facebook is slowly rollingout a new Photo Sync feature to its
iOS users that automatically uploads all photos taken on the
iPhone to a private photo album on Facebook. The idea is to make
it easier and faster for users to share photos with their
friends.
TechCrunch has more on how it works:
Here’s how Facebook Photo Sync works, at least for those lucky
enough to be in the test. You go to the Photos app in the
Facebook For iOS app’s sidebar navigation or the photos section
of your Timeline and scroll to the bottom. There you may find an
option to check out Photo Sync andthen enable it, as seen in
this photo sent in by tipster YoloFahad (an
Instagrammer-extraordinaire).
Facebook will then automatically upload photos you shoot to an
unpublished album only you can see. From there you can authorize
which photos you want posted.
Facebook's support site has much more about Photo Sync, as well.
Facebook is using background uploads within the Facebook iOS app
to move the photos, not anything special with location APIs or
Apple's iOS 6 Facebook integration.
The app is very clear thatall photos uploaded automatically are
markedas private and cannot be viewed by others until
specifically shared by theuser. Users get 2 GB of complimentary
photo storage.

Facebook iOS App Gets an Update, Including Retina Display
Support
The Verge reports today that following on from last week's
rumours predicting an imminentupdate, the Facebook iOS app has
indeed had an update today, which includes support for the new
iPad’s Retina display. As The Verge notes, Facebook has taken
its own sweet time producing this update, as indeed it did
comingup with an iPad app at all! The Verge points out that
other top apps such as The New York Times, Skype, Kindle, Kayak
and Netflix were all updated very quickly following the
introduction of the new iPad, and The Verge says thatits
developer sources told it that the updates were very easy to do,
taking just two days in some cases. Still, it's here now, yay!
Aside from Retina display support, the new update also features
an offline chatting facility, as well as support for more
languages, including Czech, and the usual assorted bug fixes.
One thing the update doesn’t include, however, is support for
Facebook’s new Timeline profile pages, The Verge notes.
