Re: Survival of the fittest
By: Severin Date: March 6, 2014, 4:14 pm
---------------------------------------------------------
Upon his inspection, the cyber ninja found the corpse of a large
lizard humanoid missing a leg and it's tail. It wasn't anything
he found familiar, since it looked rather primitive, but a peek
in his database would identify it. In many of his heists,
Severin not only took hardware, but made sure to copy data to
expand his well of knowledge. That, and he usually swiped info
from many of his clients as well. The software in his helmet
visually analysed the creature, reading the unique
characteristics. What he came up with was a Vlisoconian. Nothing
rather noteworthy, and not surprising that such a creature was
also exiled to this god forsaken planet.
Severin froze and took a look around when he heard to shriek cry
throughout the woods. A truly fearsome creature came flying down
from the treetops, making the ninja stay still in place, hoping
that it would not notice him. As he took a second look, it
seemed as if the creature was the one being hunted. It paid the
Severin and his robots no mind, nor did it turn to Andrea.
Instead it turned back where it came from and charged. All he
could do was watch as a red blur came out of the bushes and
finished off the beast. Severin stared at the creature that made
the blur, and it soon morphed into something, or someone more
familiar.
"I guess that would depend on which prisoner it is, eh?"
The ninja casually walked up the the fallen beast and tapped it
with his foot.
"Why are you in such a rush anyways? I had my own tail to shake,
unfortunately you didn't grab all the attention and I had a
little spy follow me. Tried loosing them in a warp gate, but
they jumped on my to quickly and followed me around. Had to
loose them again before I needed another place to hide. But I
guess beggars can't be choosers."
Severin looked back to the slime woman that was following him
around.
"Oh right! Andrea this is... This is... You know, I don't think
I ever got your name. Anyways this is Andrea, the employer I was
speaking of. If the job doesn't interest you then we are also
here to track down Scorpion and see if he would like to get off
this planet."

Craning his neck to the side and rotating his shoulders, as if
getting used to his body again, there was a quick smirk before
his reply.
Bartholomew. Bartholomew Varrowsgard. This
is Verina Varrowsgard, my daughter. You have offspring, friend?
Cleaning up this one's mess only causes me more trouble. There's
a price on both our heads. So I'm never too keen on staying in
one place for too long. We only needed the hunters and other
pursuers to know that we were here. Now everyone knows we're
here. Problem with that is, everyone knows we're here. Think
about this planet. Now look at my daughter. That's reason enough
to want to leave as soon as I can.
Verina was being unusually quiet. Aside from a blank stare, she
only bowed as her name was mentioned. The bow was dignified,
almost regal, as if she was used to being announced. The
numerous wounds Bartholomew had suffered himself had already
healed, leaving not even a scar in their places. The meaning
behind the words Severin spoke sank into his consciousness and
he addressed the other points.
That being said, I won't ask for the details
of the job right now. You can tell me once we find your hunter.
For his sake, I hope he's not a stupid one. Once we're off this
rock, I'll hear you out. If you get me off this rock, I'd owe
you one. So it's the least I could do. By the way... I'm pretty
sure Verina might try to... "repay" your kindness. She's a
foolish girl, but harmless.
She wanted to say something. Any other time she would have said
something. This was not one of those times. Bartholomew had
revealed something about themselves. It was a rare occurrence.
Even still, he was discussing business and she knew full well
not to interfere with business. The shape shifter nodded towards
the one introduced as Andrea.
Here's hoping the job is easy and the pay is
good.

"That... Cannot be good."
The loud shriek that pierced the silence right as Raziel seemed
ready to answer caused everything in the wooden cabin to rattle.
Rizio bolted to the door, scanning the dimly lit jungle floor
for any signs of another oncoming attack. It wasn't like he
hadn't expected something like this when he was first sent
there. An enforcer of the law sentenced to life in prison, bound
to have enemies, but the number of attempts on his life since
being put there seemed a tad bit ridiculous. It had only been a
few hours since the last attempt after all. He glanced over his
shoulder at Raziel, should he leave as not to drag what seemed
like the only other decent person on the planet into the crazed
frenzy that had become his life? There was also the fact that
Raziel scientific expertise would surely make getting off the
planet a whole lot easier, though none of that would matter if
he got Raziel killed.
"There might be more of them coming... Once I get a beat on
where they are, I'll try to lead them away from your neck of the
woods."

Raizel stood tall and suddenly at the sound with a
frown. He knew the sound of a space ship, it was a second nature
for him to recognize. Scorpion seemed to hear it, too, as he
kicked into action and said he was going to lead them away.
"That's not necessary, kid. I'm going out there. They're already
in my neck of the woods anyway, and what kind of a host wouldn't
greet their guests?"
Raizel didn't wait for an objection, swiftly stepping out of the
modest shack and back towards the jungle. He walked tall and
proud, despite the many creatures that had taken an uninvited
residence to his jungle.
"Don't let them see you. I'd hate for them to get the impression
that I welcome guests. Let me do the talking, if I need you I'll
call you, savvy?"
He called back, assuming Scorpion was following him. It was a
short walk to the clearing, and Raizel quickly surveyed the
scene before stepping out with a scowl.
"This is more visitors than I usually get in a year. To what do
I owe the pleasure..?"
Raizel kept his voice cold and cool, despite the fact that he
was outnumbered and they had a space ship. His eyes kept jumping
to it, inspecting it with child like awe every once in a while.
"It's been a while since I've seen a ship. I miss them."

"Nah, no kids. I'm do busy with my toys to care enough to find
someone to have kids with. You do have a point, this isn't
exactly the place to raise children."
Severin looked over to Verina and winked. She couldn't see under
the mask, but he did it anyway to amuse himself.
"Lucky for you, getting off the planet with me will make sure no
one knows you left. I'm not exactly here legally."
The ninja chuckled and began to wander around again, inspecting
the surroundings, casually looking over to the reptilian corpse
from before.
"Don't worry about owing me one, technically we're even. You
distracted the guards for me before, letting my escape be a
little easier, but neither of us saw that little spy coming. As
for the job, I guess that depends on who you have to kill... and
where."
Severin made his way over to the corpse he was inspecting before
Bart's arrival, crouching down and poking it with his finger.
"What do you make of this? He isn't exactly a native, and it
looks like parts were used for food before they left the scene.
Aside from the giant hole in his chest I guess. Would be real
nice and easy if Scorpion was to blame, but there are so many
people here we can't be sure."
The ninja techie stood back up, placed his hands on his hips and
sighed.
"It's a shame that his files doesn't have more organic
information that I could scan the area with. Might as well do a
scan of the area to see what we are dealing with I guess."
He was about to turn around and head back into his ship when a
man with white hair stepped out of the woods claiming that they
were on his property.
"Oooo? Who's this? You live around here then? That be some
dangerous information to be giving out on this kind of planet."
The robot commander smiled under his mask and skipped merrily
closer to the stranger. He didn't attack them on sight, so he
couldn't be all bad.
"Turns out we are looking for someone, but unfortunately, you
aren't him."
Severin glanced back at his ship, then back to the man.
"Yes that is my ship, and you can't have it! Not that you could
fly it anyways."
He laughed out loud before returning to the conversation. Any of
his own bounties didn't know him by name anyways, so he might as
well introduce himself.
"Name's Severin, and who are you?"

Andrea nod slightly in reaction to Bartholomews words then
looked over to his female companion, she kept her eyes fix on
her for a couple of seconds then moved back to the male.
It is a pleasure meeting you, it will be best to do as you have
suggested.
Without a doubt the best course of action was to wait and see
what sort of individual was this Bartholomew, he seem rather
sure of himself, that could be either a sign for strength or
foolishness, then again what just happen during his entrance did
suggest to incline towards the first. While she consider the
possibilities of how a business relation would turn out with
him, another individual came in, this one seem to be the owner
of the piece of land they were standing on, if you could call
him that in a prison planet. Severin proceed to talk to this
stranger while Andrea observed him carefully.

Bartholomew strolled closer to the ship. Signalling Verina to
follow, she stood beside him and he casually leaned back against
the hull. The apex predator of the jungle took more effort than
he expected. While his wounds had recovered, his stamina was
another matter altogether. He'd forced a transformation he was
not yet able to handle the burden of. It was only the third time
doing so. All the same, he figured every pair of eyes that saw
the ship landing would venture this way. Each time he's crossed
paths with Severin, he demonstrated a knack for flashy
entrances. It begged the question of it was ignorant bliss or
hidden genius. Regardless, he sought a way off this planet and
one had conveniently presented itself. He wasn't about to let
anything change that, at least, not until he and Verina were
safely off-world first.

Rizio stayed in tow. While it was true that Raziel's scientific
expertise would come in handy, he also wasn't going to die for a
complete stranger. If things looked bad at any point, Raziel was
on his own, after all; it was survival of the fittest. However,
instead of more hardened criminals looking to tear his head off
and wear his skin like a jacket, what Rizio found in the
clearing; at least the first thing he noticed was the ship. How
had it gotten there? His answer soon came from a man standing
over by the Vlisoconian which Raziel had killed earlier, at
least he thought it was a man; it was hard to tell with all the
stuff he or she was wearing.
"Not meaning to be rude or anything, but; what would one need to
do to gain passage on this ship and off this glorious planet?
I've really enjoyed my little vacation on this planet but I do
believe I've over stayed my welcome."

Raizel raised an eyebrow at the curious pilot that
had chosen this land as his destination, a decision that was
almost enough to prove the man insane.
"Dangerous to tell people where I live? How do you figure?
Whether they know I live here or not, they end up much the
same..."
Raizel glanced over to the fallen Vlisoconian pointedly before
inspecting the ship further.
"I'd be content as a passenger if I can't be the pilot."
Raizel wasn't convinced that he couldn't fly the ship. He had
yet to see any ship that he didn't know how to fly. The engineer
would have to be talented to build something that was foreign to
him.
"My name's Raizel Godfrey. Pleased to meet you."
He wondered if anyone present would recognize his name. He's be
surprised if they didn't, but he didn't know how popular he was
now. That's when Scorpion stepped out, asking about how to get
on the ship.

"No matter how strong you think you are, there will always be
someone stronger."
The cyber ninja began to prance around merrily, his robotic
companions remaining still, as well as his organic ones. It
seemed that he was going to be the voice here. Oh well.
"And who says I would let you be a passenger on my ship? What
you got to trade hmmm?"
Severin stopped prancing and leaned forward, peering at the man
as he spoke his name. What he was really looking at was the
display inside his helmet, searching the official's records for
the name Raizel Godfrey. Killing an entire planet was quiet the
doosey, but so was brutally torturing nearly a million people,
and speak of the devil! Scorpion had stepped out of the bushes
next to the mysterious man.
"Scorpion! Just the man I was looking for. You just made this
whole trip a lot easier for us! My hooded associate over here
has a proposition for you!"
He gestured over to Andrea as he bowed.
