Mojang said ages ago, they were going to implement an
adventure/quest system, with interactive NPCs. Although we now
have gamemode3, which restricts the ability to break blocks, but
let's you open chests etc.. I think a quest system, with
pre-generated worlds and structures would be awesome. I'd
personally like to see an advancementin the villager trading
system, aswell as a player trading interface :) - Op Ango

Yeah a questing system would be pretty cool.
Tbh, I think the user interface is good at the moment. More
changes would just complicate things and the screen would become
overcrowded, worsening the viewing experience of the
environments that minecraft has to offer.

Admittedly we have seen huge advances, and the new world
generator on PC is sick. I'm happy with the way things are
going, but there are still a few items that should have been
added before, in my opinion. Such as tables, chairs, and shelves
which act as chests, but visually display the items. All of
these items have featured in mod packs, so if people can code
       it, Mojang can ;)

An update that would incorporate actual furniture, such as tables
       and chairs, would be epic.

The new update, which features coloured glass blocks, panes
aswell as new types of flowers and plants was awesome. The new
types of fish were also cool, and i have a pufferfish nailed to
       my wall ^^
I'd like to see some of the stuff from the Tekkit mod being put
into original minecraft, and i think Mojang need to focus a bit
more on the redstone side for now :)

Minecraft is advancing loads now, but the updates aren't as
frequent, and as impressive as before. The new world generator
is sick, but uses a lot of memory.
A few things i'd like to see in the future include bigger
settlements for villagers, a better shop system, more weapons,
different transport, more redstone engineering tools as well as
       a detailed quest mode.
Developing on the quest-mode point, it would be awesome if there
was some kind of storyline that linked the Wither, Ender-dragon
and Herobrine together. As well as NPCs that can issue quests,
companions would be awesome. So instead of taming a wolf of
ocelot, take a villager with you, which you can give armour and
       weapons.
Just think it would be awesome for there to be pre-made worlds
that have detailed and unique storylines as well as big citys
       and settlements.

I think Mojang needs to bring Minecraft for 360 up to speed with
the PC version. I have heard they are for the xbox one but i
think they need to implement this soon.
Perhpas instead of just adding new features, they should come up
with a new game mode other than the current one. I think a
gathering resources for questing game type would be great :) :)

I agree. I think implementing bigger NPC towns and cities would
certainly liven up minecraft worlds, especially with the new
bigger world generators, it would give people the ability to
create links between two cities across the world.
Yeah, new weapons would be good but what ones??

       @The Bugfordian -
I was thinking about long swords, scimitars, shields (as we
already have the block animation) and maybe more ranged weapons,
like a wand (with magical spells?) and a crossbow

       @Kano
Yeah I think that having some sort of magical weapon would be
awesome. Some variations on the current sword would also be
       pretty cool.
