Nope he needs to be 18 to legally sign off hes considered a
minor. So if we can't reach the parents or guardians, just
throwing this question into the void, would/could we do a no
patient found then turn him over to police care? or does he get
sent to the hospital?

Interesting concept Lisa..no patient found...does that literally
mean there was no patient? OR does it mean that you found
someone and they did not turn out to be a patient?

Everyone is right..he is a minor..needs parents to sign off..now
the question what if you can not get in touch with parents?
What will you do with this person who has nothing wrong with
him? Transport?

I've seen a nameless EMS providers when we get to a car
accident, if there are people involved and no one is hurt and we
therefore have no one to treat, thus we do a no patient found
because for all our ems and mva a pcr must be done if an ems
provider is on the truck irregardless if we end up actually
having to treat them or not.
As for not being able to reach the parents, not that the PD
officer would like it lol, but say we do a no patient found PCR
thus we never really took care/responsibility for the patient
therefor we more or less are documenting yes we called on scene
but with no patient to treat are job is done, thus i think kinda
covering our end. Thus the child would then be the
responsibility of the trooper to look after because an MVA tends
to be controlled by PD due to traffic concerns within reason. So
I guess my theory ends in no patient to treat the child should
then fall as PD responsibility because he was never officially
in our care. Thus we could be cleared from the scene. Of course
if PD ends up giving us a hard time I'm certainly not going to
abandon the child on the side of the road.

due to the fact that this patient is not a legal adult, he is
unable to sign off on his own. parents or guardians should be
notified if possible. if they arrive on scene and advised of
best option of transport yet still choose for the patient not to
go then they can sign him off

Maybe you could call medical control to get permission to sign
off the minor in the case that the parents/guardian are
unreachable and the minor refuses treatment/transport?

Any thoughts on Lisa's take on the "no patient found" avenue for
taking care of this patient?

i guess it might depend on who actually called in the accident .
was it pd who wanted a pt. eval. or did the assumed pt. call it
in ? maybe ems was never really the reason for reporting the
accident
