How has Bipolar Impacted your Romantic Life and Sex Life?

Some medications can make it difficult to achieve orgasm. Some
medications can take away hypersexuality. Some medications can
take away your sex drive completely. All of these things impact
your romantic life and sex life.
Bipolar itself has an impact your romantic life and sex life
when you are rapid cycling or in a mixed cycle your mate does
not appreciate it.
Being depressed or suicidal impacts your mate. Being manic and
wanting sex all the time impacts your mate. Being hypersexual
impacts your mate.
Staying up and not getting any sleep impacts your mate.
In a dating situation the person is new to you so they might not
realize there is a problem. They don't know you yet and don't
know mental illnesses so you can snow them. This has been my
experience. The person doesn't know me so they don't have a base
line yet. lol I know I can manipulate them in the beginning.
They will believe any bullshit I tell them. I don't usually lie
though as I find it is too much of an effort. I am too lazy.
Instead, I am bluntly honest to the point of where I hurt
people's feelings. Yeah, that dress does make you look fat. You
should take it off right now. It is very freeing to be honest. I
never have to remember lies. The lies I tell are to hide my
medication from friends. They tend to be rather judgey.
With the men I date? I tend to be upfront. This is who I am.
This is what I am about. I have Bipolar. I skew to hypomania. I
can get hyper. I can get depressed. I can get hypersexual.
Usually all the men is the hypersexual part. They don't really
hear rest. All they heard was la la la la la bipolar la la la la
hypersexal the end. That is about the gist of it. Men have
selective hearing and there is no point in worrying about what
to say to them. They will pick out what points they want to
hear. What they will always hear is: hypersexual or
hypersexuality. They never fail to hear those two words with
their selective hearing. Simply because the words contain the
word "sex" inside of them so the men hone in on those words.
I'm never worried about having to explain myself to a man I am
dating. It has never gone badly. I do it with confidence. I
notice that if you talk a person with no confidence it doesn't
matter what message you give them the message will not be well
received. You must stand up straight, look them in the eyes and
have confidence when you speak. Project your voice and show you
have confidence in yourself and what you are saying. If you do
this the person you are speaking to will listen and accept what
you are saying in a much more positive light. People who look at
the ground, hunch their shoulders, let their words trail off and
speak softly will not get the same respect. Presentation
counts!!!! How you present your message and yourself counts. I
think of myself as a package. I am selling myself just like I am
selling a package on the shelf of a supermarket. I must present
myself in the best possible light for the man who I am dating to
listen to me and believe in me. I am having to jump over the
Bipolar hurdle. I damn sure better present myself with
confidence. If I can't believe in myself...how can he?
I have hypersexuality and this can be frustrating. If the man
can not keep up with me I want to slap him. I had one boyfriend
who would fall asleep every after we had sex. I would watch the
clock and let him sleep 20 minutes. Then I would violently shake
him awake and tell him, time for another round! I let him sleep
20 mins because that is the recovery time men need to make more
sperm. Once 20 minutes was up...I was shaking him awake. I did
that over and over and over all night long. He got cat naps. He
would bitch to his friends at work, man, my girlfriend won't let
me sleep! They would say, really? Why? She keeps waking me up
sex! They would say, oh, man! I wish I had a girlfriend like
that. Oh course he was secretly pleased that he was making the
other men jealous. Our weekends were spent in bed having sex.
That was all we did. We didn't get a damn thing done and I was
fine with it.
I had one lover suggest that I "had a problem" and was a "sex
addict" and needed "to seek help." I turned purple in the face.
I was so livid that he would say this to me. I told him, no one
has ever complained before! How dare you say this to me. I am
not an addict. I am not out of control. But for some reason he
thought my hypersexuality was a sex addiction and that I needed
to go in for treatment. I refused. We fought over this. I was
not promiscuous so I did no meet the definition of a sex addict.
But because I kept using him so often he thought this meant I
was a sex addict. He just didn't the difference. He didn't know
what the was looking at. I was not diagnosed at the time. This
did bring us into conflict.
The variety of problems I have had is vast. This is just a few
of the problems I have had.
The impact Bipolar has had on my romantic life and sex life has
been huge. At one point in time my hypersexuality was medicated
away. I was really upset. I asked my doctor to give it back. He
just stared at me and said nothing. I only got it back when he
took me off a lot of the meds. I didn't tell him I got it back.
I am guarding that secret in case he was medicating it away on
purpose. I like having hypersexuality. It was gone for 3 years.
I missed it. I cried when I lost it. It was like a death to me.
Getting it back was the most wonderful gift.
