That's interesting. I've never heard of anyone stabbing to
       butcher a chicken.

Cleverbot says you got Fom from the Midwestern part of the U.S.

It's much easier to swing one handed than it looks, once the
muscles build up the right way. In some cases, it's more
efficient. But, holding the chicken down and swinging that
massive thing might not be worth the trouble.

       Let me guess...
       Cut your hand off?

That's where I was coming from, yes. The long handle can be
slightly unwieldy, I have tried using axes with one hand before
with bad results; albeit now that I'm a little more muscular, it
       might be easier.

I've split wood that would usually be split with two hands and a
traditional blocksplitter and hacked up an apple tree swinging
that thing one handed, usually in thongs, t-shirt, shorts and no
       protective gear whatsoever.
       Safety!
My dream axe/splitter/hatchet (shown below) is so damn light
that it makes my hybrid seem like a warhammer. The force that
could be put behind it, though . . . It's like the Valyrian
       steel sword of axes.

If it's that light then yes, it probably could be used for
       butchering chickens.
The only axes I've ever used are the traditional, wooden
handled, steel headed, lumberjack type ones; so really, I don't
know that much about the modern kinds.

We have one of those; I prefer to use my hybrid and my hatchet,
       as they are truly mine.

That makes sense. I prefer using my own machetes, rather than my
father's, although he only has one.
