Definitions – Phrases and Terms

Asterisk-Style
noun 1. A form of role-playing which involves using asterisks
before and after an action to symbolize an action and no marking
to symbolize speech. Mark’s roleplaying game is in
askerisk-style.
High Council
noun 1. The governing body of Inrazimad. Catherine wanted to
join the High Council.
In Character
adjective 1. A state in role-play which the forumer acts and
speaks from the perspective of the character.
Mobile Mode
noun 1. A optional setting that gives mobile devices the
ability to view the forum in a specialized layout. The
Administrator disabled mobile mode.
Nested Quotes
noun 1. A optional setting that allows the display of quoted
quotes inside of quotes, giving you a complete view of the
entire recorded conversation. The Administrator enabled nested
quotes.
Original Poster
noun 1. The forumer that started the thread.
Out of Character
adjective 1. A state in role-play which the forumer acts and
speaks from the perspective of the themselfs. This is usually to
communicate without involving the character itself.
Over Powered
Adjective 1. Presenting something or someone simply too
powerful for the context. 2. In roleplay, creating something or
someone so powerful it unbalances the game.
Story-Style
noun 1. A form of role-playing which involves using quotation
marks before and after speech to symbolize speech. Role play in
this style is presented much like as narrative or piece of
creative writing. Greg’s roleplaying game is in story-style.
Read-Only
adjective 1. One of the three states of a thread. Read-only is
a function that prevents normal users from posting on particular
threads or entire boards. Moderators and Administrators are not
limited by this function and can still post freely as long as
they reside within the forum rules. The Announcements board is
in read-only mode.
