       Chronicles of Muireadhach
       By: raymondmay113 Date: August 18, 2015, 10:44 pm
       ---------------------------------------------------------
I've been asked to write a backstory for "The General" and
without furthere ado, here it is! Of course, I first asked for
permission to place the setting in the fictional village of
Muireadhach. Updates will be added when I have the time.
       Prologue
It is a dark, and stormy night in the village they call
Maelstrom. A young man sits at a table, hunched over as he
writes in his journal. Finishing, he glances at his sleeping
soon, and departs. I'm leaving tonight, and I'm not coming back.
My fate is intwined with that of a Dark Entity from the depths
of time. I can hear his horrible sound, as he calls my name. I
never thought it would be happening so soon, and I am forced to
act. Whatever happens next, I will not lose you like I lost your
mother. The necklace is all that's left of her. Keep it safe. In
the morning, take this journal and bring it to the house of
Bill. He will bring you to a village of a friend. From there,
you must prepare for what is coming. Master your skills and the
power within you...I know I am asking much of you, but it's the
only way to defeat the Dark Lord.
       The man never came back.
       Chapter 1: Times of Darkness
It is a bright and sunny day in Muireadhach. Michael stood
in the training grounds of Jacob the Swordmaster, waiting for
his teacher to arrive. He had heard rumors that a dark entity
existed within the underwater caverns near Maelstrom, which was
a day's journey north from Muireadhach. Shrugging it off, he
headed in for the day's training.
"Ow!" Ivan growled as he fended off the blade of one of
Jacob's more skilled, and incredibly arrogant students. No one
knew his real name, so they called him Arcane Master. "Shut up
and fight like a man!" barked Arcane Master as he swiftly swung
his sword at Ivan. "You're the last one, Ivan. Once I defeat
you, I will prove myself worthy and defeat this 'Dark Lord'
everyone keeps talking about." Ivan gritted his teeth as he
blocked Arcane Master's blows. "Not today, Arcane Master. You
may have defeated Micheal, Brooke, and all the others more than
once, but we all know you can't possibly win with strength and
skill alone." Ivan growled underneath his helmet. "WHAT?!"
Arcane Master screamed furiously "YOU THINK THAT YOU'RE BETTER
THAN ME?! NO ONE IS BETTER THAN ME! YOU'RE WEAK! YOU NEED
OTHERS! BUT I, I NEED NO ONE!" Enraged, Arcane Master unleashes
a flurry of wind, lightning, fire, and water at Ivan, nearly
killing him. "GET UP WEAKLING!" He shouted as he held his sword
above Ivan, ready to kill him. "Enough!" Jacob shouted in an
eerily calm, yet stern tone. "But master, If I'm to defeat the
Dark Lord, I need to push myself to the limit and-" Jacob cut
him off. "I said 'Enough', Arcane master."
A few hours later, Ivan was talking to his friend, Lucy. As
they walked, they heard a muffled arguement coming from inside
Jacob's office. A few minutes later, they heard a crash and the
unmistakable voice of Arcane Master with a hint of anger and
sadness in his tone screaming "THEN I REFUSE TO LISTEN!" After
several more crashing sounds, he shouted loud enough to be heard
for miles "YOU MADE ME BELIEVE!!!" "Well, that was dramatic."
Ivan whispered. "I know. What do you think happened?" Lucy
asked, whispering back. Ivan shrugged. "He probably went to
confront this 'Dark Lord' he mentioned earlier. He's probably
too arrogant to notice his own foolishness. My father went to
confront the Dark Lord to save my village. He never came back. I
was 10 at the time. It's been 7 years since that day." "The Dark
Lord. So, the legends are true," Jacob said as he exited his
office. "Come. Let me tell you a story. The fate of our world
       rests on you."
Michael was studying an ancient text. After reading it, he
smiled to himself. This is a good day, he thought. I am the
Master of Ice. But, there are 6 other elemental masters. Who are
they? We must find out, if we are to defeat Umbra, the Dark
       Lord.

       Chapter 2: Team of Heroes
Jacob sat in his office, facing the 6 students in front
of him. He had called for James, Brooke, Ivan, Lucy, and
Michael, but for whatever reason, he refused to discuss.
Finally, breaking his silence, he told them "You five are the
only ones who can defeat Umbra, the Dark Lord. Each of you have
the power to utilize elements and become the masters of your
respective elements. Only once you have mastered your powers,
will you be able to stop the Darkness. Otherwise, we will all
fall under his iron reign." Jacob's stiudemts were in utter
shock and sat in their seats with their mouths open for ten to
fifteen minutes. Finally, James broke the silence. "So, what are
       we waiting for?"
"Your elemental powers are fire, water, light, shadow,
and ice respectively." Jacob informed the six students some time
later. "That is so f***ing awesome!!!!!" James shouted. "So,
you're telling me that not only do we have cool powers, but do
we get elementally infused weapons?" "No." Came the reply. "Do I
look like I'm made of money?!" Jacob asked. "Besides,
Muireadhach lacks the materials needed to forge such weapons.
True power comes from inside of you."
Ivan stood on a hill, surveying the village he called
home, and the villagers. Spotting a group of robber barons, he
unsheathed his sword and sprung into battle. "Ow." Ivan moaned a
few minutes later. "I told you to disarm him, not get trampled
by his mount." Micheal groaned. "Look who's talking, brain
freeze. Your ice melted in 20 seconds flat." "That's because
it's about a hundred degrees today." As Ivan and Micheal
bickered, they failed to notice an army of bandits and other low
life crooks make their way into Muireadhach.

In the darkest of all places, on a land where the
ordinary dread, lurks the darkest of all creatures. "Bring me my
souls, my minions. Soon, the world, and the worlds beyond shall
be ruled by Umbra!" Several creatures of pure darkness emerge
from the cave and head out for Muireadhach. "So, it has begun,
my Brother, but it will also soon be over......" Breathed the
       Mysterious Voice from Beyond.
Chapter 3: Monster of the Depths
"Begone, foul creatures!" Ivan shouted as he dispatched
the last two monsters with a stroke of his sword. "What are
these things?" Lucy asked. "The dark beasts, they are the
minions of Umbra, the Dark Lord." Jacob answered from the
shadows. James jumped. "He keeps sneaking up like that..."
"Since the beginning of time, existed a dark entity who longed
to cast the entire world into darkness. Umbra is that entity. He
was defeated by a group of heroes, and sealed away, under the
sea." You must each retrieve certain relics if we are to defeat
Umbra and his dark minions." "Okay, where are these 'relics'?"
Ivan asked. "I haven't the faintest idea." Jacob said, laughing.
"Curse this f***ing mountain!" James cursed as he cut his
fingers on the rock. "Be careful." Micheal said, about thirty
minutes too late. "So, why are we climbing this mountain again?"
Ivan asked as he hoisted himself over a ledge. "There's some
bandits up ahead! They have us outnumbered three to one."
Micheal reported. "Can someone tell me why we are here again?"
Ivan asked, in a slighty raised voice. "Nevermind! The bandits
are coming! Kill them!" The battle ended in less than five
minutes. "Wow, those guys were pathetic." the bandit muttered.
He chuckled to himself as he listened to the screams of the
three armed men as they continued to fall from the cliff. "Today
is a good day. But not for Muireadhach. Oh no, Muireadhach has
very, very few days left. Soon, this world will be ruled by the
       master!"
