Magistream is a gold based clickables site which has existed for
six years. Me and Neahmain are both users, and I highly
recommend it for anyone who liked dragcave. Just don't get
kicked out of Mercado for a year like me.

What's Mercado?
I haven't played for a bit, but that's why I like the game.
There aren't really any consequences like dragons dying if you
are inactive for a while.

The description of the eggs claim that the dragons are in there,
they just don't feel like coming out. So dragons are dying.

A psychological thing that makes them not want to leave their
egg, thus my use of the words "they just don't feel like coming
out." It was a simplification, but conveyed my point just as
well.
My point being that eggs can die, and apparently, so can the
hatchlings:

True.
But adults don't die.
So that's why you have only 1 hatching/egg at a time.
