Impact on quality of care Pharmacist-led repeat prescription man
agement services

What is the impact on quality of care or population health
Pharmacist-led repeat prescription management services?
Quality is likely to be improved for some patients because the
extra checks help to ensure they are given the right medicines
in the right doses, although the effect on outcomes has not been
quantified.
Monthly summaries of interventions are submitted by the
pharmacists (see details in ‘Savings delivered’
above for the annual figures).
The process has facilitated shared learning for practice staff
and clinicians. It has resulted in a time saving for GPs that
releases more time for helping patients with complex needs or
long-term conditions.
