Barriers to implementation for gastrointestinal early detection
service

What are the barriers to implementation for gastrointestinal
early detection service?
Education of junior and senior doctors in A&E and medical
receiving unit, and organisation of arrangement of outpatient
endoscopy in patients not admitted (via endoscopy coordinator).
Clinicians are focused not only on clinical priorities and
appropriately managing acute emergency gastrointestinal
haemorrhage but also on appropriate admission and utilisation of
available hospital resources and capacity. Avoiding hospital
admission may improve acquisition of other targets such as
4-hour A&E trolley wait. We encountered no resistance to the
implementation of this protocol and indeed all of the groups
mentioned were entirely supportive.
