How to reduce hospital admission of patient with cardiac conditi
on?

By introducing remote monitoring for cardiac implantable
electrical devices.
Remote monitoring means that patients do not need to attend an
outpatient department for CIED surveillance. Instead, using a
telemedicine-based system, devices are monitored from home and
information can be downloaded for specialist teams to view at
specific times. Alerts can be pre-set to ensure that the
specialist team is notified of changes in the device or the
patient’s condition much earlier than using the
conventional system, when either symptom development would
trigger consultation and review, or routine surveillance visits
would assess the need for intervention. Therefore, remote
monitoring is not only more efficient and convenient for
patients, but it is also able to deliver better quality care and
safer surveillance. The change to remote monitoring also
promotes a more widespread cultural shift to care for patients
not just the management of devices.
