Here's an alternative view: Eddie needs at least 2 fullback
options for the RWC. Watson would have been one, but there's no
guarantee he will be back in time. So he needs to develop
another.
Daly has the huge advantage of versatility, but he's
inexperienced at fullback. So, with one eye on the RWC, who do
you get more value from giving game time to?
Mike Brown, who's shown time and again that he will turn up and
do a job as long as he's fit, doesn't need time to play himself
into form and will react to being dropped by working harder
until he's back in contention.
Or Elliot Daly, who's an outrageous talent but needs to get
experience of playing crunch games , especially in an unfamiliar
position?
I'm surprised Eddie has picked Daly for this game, but on the
other hand it's almost certainly the toughest game for a full
back before the RWC itself.
I would still bet on Brown being part of the RWC squad if he's
fit, though, because the only other experienced international
full back is Goode, and he doesn't cut it at International
level.
You could substitute "Robshaw" and "Shields" or "Wilson" in the
sentences above and they'd read much the same.

I can see Brown in the WC squad though as cover for FB and wing.

Yes, that certainly looks to be the plan but it's unbelievably
high risk. The experiment continues, which doesn't seem to
include winning this 6 nations.

Wingers are often labelled up on the opposite wing to the one
they end up standing on anyway. Modern wings tend to be able to
play both sides nowadays too - especially if you want to be an
international.

Farrell world class at what?
He missed more tackles (at 12) in 2018 6Nations than any other
player of all 6 countries, and missed more tackles (at 10) than
any other England player in the AI's.
His kicking stats for the 2018 6Nations were the worst of all
the primary kickers of all 6 countries (a risible 63%)
His passing is average, his kicking out of hand is poor and his
captaincy consists of making the wrong calls (NZ in the AI's),
saying nothing to his team-mates most of the time or berating
them for not passing to him (Cips in SA), or repeatedly getting
warned about his shouting and screaming at sir while not having
the first clue how to speak to them (many on the Sarries forum
say he's not a captain).
If this was any other player they wouldn't be anywhere near the
team. Even his ex team-mates are now calling him Englands weak
link:

Great argument -- everyone knows Stringer is renowned for being
a level-headed and calm voice of authority.

I must admit I've never really known what differences there are
between right and left wing in terms of whether there are
different skills involved, other than which foot you can step
off. I'd never know whether a winger is usually left or right.
Got to disagree with Rodney re Farrell, but he will have to be
whiter than white with his tackling after the, deserved,
scrutiny he's had. He also needs to sort out his attitude when
speaking to the ref. I don't think he'll ever offer much of a
creative spark, but he'll do all the basic skills very, very
well. Similar to Wilkinson in many ways, so you need that spark
outside. It's not going to come from Tuilagi really, in terms of
doing something unexpected, so has to come from Slade. Farrell
is great at general game management, usually a very good kicker,
usually very solid in defence and with a great pass, just
unlikely to pick apart a defence with a piece of skill like
Ford, Cipriani, Smith, etc would.
I've never been a fan of Youngs and think he is hugely
overrated. At least he can pass to the desired target most of
the time now, but he's so slow, and his box kicking is not as
amazing as people seem to think. He rarely has a great
tournament, but occasionally has a great game which seems to
stick in people's minds.

Poorfour remains the point Daley is Eddies first choice 15 if
what you say was true I would have expected Brown to be given
some game time over the autumn. Will Brown go to the World Cup
yes but it will be as second choice 15 not first

Look forward to seeing Bryan in action at some point over the
course of the 6N. He any good?
